Moins d’un an après avoir joué en première partie à Lille dans le cadre de la tournée de Dark Tranquillity, le groupe allemand de Death Metal mélodique Hiraes fait cette fois étape tout près de la frontière, au DVG Club à Courtrai, en ce 21 février 2026 à l’occasion de sa tournée intitulée Nightflight Tour 2026. Pour ouvrir la soirée, le quintet a fait appel à ses compatriotes de Nopreachers, nouvelle étoile montante du genre.

C’est au son d’une sombre séquence lancée préalablement que les Bavarois de Nopreachers prennent possession des planches pour la première tournée de leur carrière. Enfin, les premières notes de “Ikigai” (2025) retentissent, puis les guitares et la batterie prennent le relais tel un véritable rouleau compresseur. Rapidement, Anton Dürr (chant, guitare) entonne les premières paroles à l’aide de son écrasant chant saturé. Ce n’est pas sans rappeler un certain groupe suédois du nom de… Orbit Culture ! Le quatuor ne le cache pas : le groupe suédois fait partie de ses influences à l’instar de Bleed From Within, Allt, Atlas ou encore Silent Planet. Bien évidemment, on ne boude aucunement notre plaisir à hocher frénétiquement la tête sur leurs sons, que ce soit sur “Hell let loose” (2025) et encore plus sur “Burn it Down” (2024). Tout simplement titanesque !

Au cours d’un set d’une trentaine de minutes, Nopreachers parcourt une bonne partie de ses chansons avec notamment l’explosive “Bury me”, leur toute dernière sortie parue deux semaines auparavant. En collaboration avec Britta Görtz, vocaliste de Hiraes, ce morceau taillé pour la scène et constitué de monstrueux riffs ne verra cependant pas la chanteuse pointer le bout de son nez pour prendre le micro. Le groupe enchaîne rapidement avec une toute nouvelle chanson en exclusivité. On y retrouve l’alternance du lourd chant guttural et du chant clair d’Anton, mais aussi une section rythmique massive comme à leur habitude, complétée par de gros breakdowns à faire trembler les amplis… Tout y est et ça fonctionne du tonnerre ! Les Allemands referment ensuite leur set sur “Rising” (2024) en créant une mer de lumières après avoir fait appel une dernière fois au public.

Au tour de Hiraes d’entrer en piste et de démarrer en trombe avec “Through The Storm” et sa tempête de riffs et de kicks. De son côté, la chanteuse Britta empoigne son micro CB afin de donner cet effet étouffé qu’on retrouve au début du morceau. Rapidement, elle reprend son micro main tout en délivrant un chant saturé de haute volée. La présence de la frontwoman se fait fortement ressentir et attire d’ailleurs tous les regards. Avec un charisme indéniable et son grand sourire, la vocaliste déclenche des growls qui résonnent particulièrement puissamment dans l’enceinte du DVG Club. Derrière ce sourire se cache une vraie joie de jouer ici, joie qu’elle partage avec ses compagnons de route. Plus en retrait mais redoutables d’efficacité, ces derniers ne sont pas en reste : à la fois propre et pro, la section rythmique est l’une des grandes forces du combo allemand et se retranscrit parfaitement en live.

Au cours d’un set d’une heure et quart environ, ils vont avoir maintes occasions de démontrer tout leur savoir-faire en la matière. Selon les dires de la chanteuse, il s’agit de leur sixième tournée autour de leur dernier disque ! Pas de nouveauté au programme donc, puisque la setlist est partagée entre leurs deux albums : Dormant (2024) et Solitary (2021). Une situation qui exaspère gentiment Britta mais qui n’a pas l’air de déplaire au public. En invitant les spectateurs à chanter sur “We Owe No One”, on remarque aisément que les sons du quintet fonctionnent toujours aussi bien quand la foule reprend les paroles en chœur ! Si ça marche toujours aussi bien, pourquoi ne pas republier un ancien titre ? L’idée est donc venue au groupe de ressortir le morceau “Nightflight” dans une édition spéciale, donnant ainsi son nom à cette tournée.

La soirée continue et Hiraes déchaîne son Melodic Death Metal avec notamment les excellents morceaux éponymes “Solitary” et “Dormant”. L’instant émotion intervient avec “Running out of Time”, morceau mélancolique et philosophique écrit pour exorciser les insécurités de Britta. À travers ce titre, elle offre au public un véritable rayon de lumière dans la noirceur. La fin du set approche et, après avoir fait un rappel, le groupe termine la soirée avec le très mélodique “Undercurrent”.

Avec des sons agressifs et épiques tout en gardant une belle fibre mélodique, les deux formations allemandes ont fait honneur au genre avec deux sets superbement réalisés, illustrés par une solide maîtrise technique. Difficile de trouver un adjectif convenable pour décrire ce concert qui nous en aura mis plein les tympans ! Que ce soit la belle surprise Nopreachers ou le plus établi Hiraes, ils n’ont pas grand-chose à envier aux grandes formations du death melo! Tandis que Nopreachers est en pleine effervescence avec la sortie de nombreux nouveaux morceaux dernièrement, il ne fait aucun doute que Hiraes sortira quelque chose prochainement… L’occasion idéale de réaliser une nouvelle tournée avec une œuvre toute fraîche à défendre !

Less than a year after opening for Dark Tranquillity in Lille as part of their tour, German melodic death metal band Hiraes is now stopping just across the border at the DVG Club in Kortrijk on 21 February 2026 as part of their Nightflight Tour 2026. To open the evening, the quintet called on their compatriots Nopreachers, the genre’s new rising stars.

To the sound of a sombre sequence played beforehand, Bavarian band Nopreachers take to the stage for the first tour of their career. Finally, the first notes of ‘Ikigai’ (2025) rang out, then the guitars and drums took over like a steamroller. Quickly, Anton Dürr (vocals, guitar) sang the first lyrics with his overwhelming saturated vocals. It was reminiscent of a certain Swedish band called… Orbit Culture! The quartet makes no secret of it: the Swedish band is one of their influences, along with Bleed From Within, Allt, Atlas and Silent Planet. Of course, we don’t begrudge ourselves the pleasure of nodding our heads frantically to their sounds, whether on ‘Hell let loose’ (2025) or even more so on ‘Burn it Down’ (2024). Simply titanic!

During a set lasting around thirty minutes, Nopreachers played most of their songs, including the explosive ‘Bury Me’, their latest release which came out two weeks earlier. In collaboration with Britta Görtz, vocalist of Hiraes, this song, tailor-made for the stage and consisting of monstrous riffs, did not see the singer take to the microphone. The band quickly followed up with a brand new song, performed exclusively for the audience. It features Anton’s alternating heavy growls and clean vocals, as well as their usual massive rhythm section, complemented by heavy breakdowns that make the amps shake… Everything is there and it works like a charm! The Germans then closed their set with ‘Rising’ (2024), creating a sea of lights after calling on the audience one last time.

 

It’s Hiraes‘ turn to take the stage and kick things off with ‘Through The Storm’ and its storm of riffs and kicks. Meanwhile, singer Britta grabs her CB microphone to create the muffled effect heard at the beginning of the song. She quickly switches back to her handheld microphone, delivering high-pitched, saturated vocals. The frontwoman’s presence is strongly felt and attracts everyone’s attention. With her undeniable charisma and big smile, the vocalist unleashes growls that resonate particularly powerfully within the DVG Club. Behind that smile lies a genuine joy in playing here, a joy she shares with her bandmates. More in the background but formidable in their efficiency, the latter are not to be outdone: both clean and professional, the rhythm section is one of the German combo’s great strengths and comes across perfectly in a live setting.

During a set lasting around an hour and a quarter, they have plenty of opportunities to demonstrate their expertise in this area. According to the singer, this is their sixth tour in support of their latest album! So there’s nothing new on the programme, as the setlist is split between their two albums: Dormant (2024) and Solitary (2021). This situation gently exasperates Britta, but doesn’t seem to bother the audience. Inviting the audience to sing along to ‘We Owe No One’, it’s easy to see that the quintet’s sound still works just as well when the crowd sings along in unison! If it still works so well, why not re-release an old track? So the band came up with the idea of re-releasing the song ‘Nightflight’ in a special edition, giving its name to this tour.

The evening continues and Hiraes unleashes her melodic death metal, notably with the excellent title tracks ‘Solitary’ and ‘Dormant’. The emotional moment comes with ‘Running out of Time’, a melancholic and philosophical song written to exorcise Britta‘s insecurities. Through this track, she offers the audience a real ray of light in the darkness. The end of the set approaches and, after an encore, the band ends the evening with the very melodic ‘Undercurrent’.
