Un nouvel album de Nature Morte est pour notre équipe un immanquable! C’est donc avec grande joie qu’on part avec vous à la découverte de Still Life, le quatrième album du trio. Il sera disponible dès le 3 avril via Frozen Records avec huit nouveaux titres qui sentent bon le black métal et le shoegaze!

Dès les deux premiers titres « DRAMA… » et « …NOT HORROR » on retrouve la force da la musique de Nature Morte, à savoir des riffs majestueux qui prennent le côté nape sonore du shoegaze et le trémolo picking chère au black métal, un chant déchirant de beauté et une section rythmique à tomber. La musique du groupe se fait majestueuse dès le début du disque et nous rappelle pourquoi la formation trône toujours autant dans nos écoutes régulières. « Disgust » laisse à la voix et à la basse de Chris l’occasion de nous coller des frissons une fois de plus avec ce chant hurlé venant des entrailles qui vient vous attraper pour ne plus vous lâcher. Le titre suivant nous surprend avec l’arrivée de la voix douce de Amaya Lopez-Carromero plus connue sous le nom de Maud The Moth, dont l’univers vient parfaitement rejoindre celui du trio. Le duo vocal qu’elle forme avec Chris sur ce titre nous fait voir la musique du groupe avec un œil neuf et nous fait découvrir de nouvelles sonorités qui collent parfaitement avec les univers sonores proposés par le groupe. Sur « LIBERTY (T.G.I.F), Stevan à la guitare et Vincent à la batterie ont l’occasion de briller une fois de plus pendant que Chris rend hommage à sa chanteuse favorite Katy Perry en hurlant des « T.G.I.F » qui nous rappellent le morceau de la chanteuse, en bien plus violent. La suite n’est que pur plaisir auditif, entre les influences blackgaze évidentes de « YRAMESOR » où l’émotion brute de « GGF », on ne peut que plonger pleinement dans la musique et se laisser porter avec toujours ces mêmes frissons. Le morceau final « CVLT » est, lui aussi, une pure merveille mais surprend avec des sonorités de guitare assez inédites pour la formation et une ambiance plus lumineuse qu’à l’accoutumée, même si le côté black métal est bien présent. N’étant pas spécialistes des réglages de guitare on serait bien incapables de vous dire lesquels ont été utilisés mais en tout cas ce morceau fut clairement une superbe surprise dès la première écoute et clôt l’album de la plus belle des manières.
Difficile de na pas être dithyrambique devant ce Still Life tant il nous a bluffé! Nature Morte confirment, s’il le fallait encore à nos yeux, leur talent de composition et d’interprétation. On sait que chaque écoute sera riche en émotion et viendra nous révéler de nouvelles subtilités. On vous encourage à foncer dessus dès sa sortie et on attend avec impatience les nouvelles dates du groupe, qu’on hésitera pas à aller voir de nombreuses fois.

A new album from Nature Morte is an absolute must-have for our team! It is therefore with great delight that we set off with you to discover Still Life, the trio’s fourth album. It will be available from April 3rd via Frozen Records, featuring eight new tracks that blend black metal and shoegaze to perfection!
Right from the first two tracks, ‘DRAMA…’ and ‘…NOT HORROR’, we hear the power of Nature Morte’s music: majestic riffs that blend the atmospheric soundscapes of shoegaze with the tremolo picking characteristic of black metal, vocals of heart-wrenching beauty, and a rhythm section to die for. The band’s music is majestic right from the start of the album and reminds us why they still hold such a prominent place in our regular listening. ‘Disgust’ gives Chris’s vocals and bass the chance to send shivers down our spines once again with that gut-wrenching, gut-wrenching scream that grabs hold of you and never lets go. The next track surprises us with the arrival of the soft vocals of Amaya Lopez-Carromero, better known as Maud The Moth, whose artistic world blends perfectly with that of the trio. The vocal duet she forms with Chris on this track makes us see the band’s music in a new light and introduces us to new sounds that fit perfectly with the band’s musical world. On ‘LIBERTY (T.G.I.F)’, Stevan on guitar and Vincent on drums have the chance to shine once more, whilst Chris pays homage to his favourite singer, Katy Perry, by screaming ‘T.G.I.F’ – a nod to the singer’s track, albeit in a far more intense manner. What follows is pure auditory pleasure; from the obvious blackgaze influences of ‘YRAMESOR’ to the raw emotion of ‘GGF’, one can’t help but immerse oneself fully in the music and let it carry you away, still feeling those same shivers. The final track, “CVLT”, is also a pure delight, yet surprises with guitar tones quite unlike anything the band has done before and a brighter atmosphere than usual, even though the black metal element is very much present. Not being experts in guitar settings, we’d be quite unable to tell you which ones were used, but in any case this track was clearly a superb surprise from the very first listen and brings the album to a close in the most beautiful way.
It’s hard not to be full of praise for Still Life – it’s blown us away! Nature Morte confirm, if confirmation were needed, their talent for composition and performance. We know that every listen will be rich in emotion and will reveal new subtleties. We urge you to snap it up as soon as it’s released, and we’re eagerly awaiting the band’s new tour dates – we won’t hesitate to go and see them time and time again.
