En ce lundi de Pâques, si vous étiez fans de screamo c’est au High Voltage qu’il fallait être. En effet Assaut Productions nous proposait une belle soirée découverte de deux noms de la scène italienne ainsi qu’un groupe local déjà bien connu. C’est donc en compagnie de Chevalier, Konoha et Lorem Ipsum que nous partons dans un voyage musical riche en émotions.

Le public est déjà présent en nombre prêt à se prendre en pleine face la puissance du scremo acoustique de Lorem Ipsum. Le groupe qui nous a envouté en studio avec son EP Même Quand Ta Main Quittera La Mienne, sorti en février 2025, commence très fort avec la voix de Maxime qui arrive du fond de la salle, et sans micro avec un cri perçant qui vient déjà vous coller des frissons. Sur la scène qu’il rejoint vite, on retrouve Arthur (Dear Liars) à la guitare acoustique, Alexandre au violon et Bastien à la batterie. Rapidement les titres du groupe, évoquant la parentalité, viennent nous toucher au coeur. Ces morceaux hurlés quasiment intégralement sans micro par Maxime, mais aussi par Arthur à de nombreuses reprises prennent une force encore plus grande lorsqu’on sait que les enfants de la formation sont présents au premier rang. La puissance émotionnelle de Lorem Ipsum n’a d’égal que la force du côté acoustique de leur musique. Les parties de violon sont magistrales et viennent parfaitement accompagner la batterie et la guitare acoustique. En plus de titres comme « Tes yeux clos » ou « Sergueï », le groupe nous offre également un inédit qui laisse là encore à chaque musicien l’occasion de nous subjuguer en nous faisant monter les larmes aux yeux. Bastien nous fait également entendre sa voix, et toujours sans micro, et est tellement pris par son jeu et l’émotion des textes qu’on voit ses yeux partir, signe une fois de plus de la grande puissance de ces textes absolument sublimes. Le concert file à une vitesse folle et Maxime n’hésitera pas à retourner sur les bancs placés sur le côté de la salle pour chanter au plus près d’un public définitivement médusé par la performance. « Véro » vient clore ce set de la plus belle des manières et nous laisse avec l’envie de repartager au plus vite des expériences sonores si puissantes avec Lorem Ipsum! Un début de soirée à tomber qui n’a laissé personne de marbre!
Direction l’Italie maintenant avec Konoha. Si les fans du ninja adepte du clonage reconnaissent le nom de son village, c’est bien chez nos voisins transalpins que nous partons. Le groupe nous offre d’entrée de jeu un screamo surpuissant qui vient nous rappeler pourquoi la scène italienne est une des plus actives actuellement. Le chant de Vitto vient nous percuter de plein fouet pendant que les riffs de Tan et Full nous emportent dans un tourbillon mélodique des plus envoutants. Le chant en italien apporte un véritable plus au son du groupe, et même si la langue ne nous est pas familière on reconnait dans chaque morceau une envie de transmettre au public une musique des plus déchirantes qui soit. Les morceaux laissent à Ste à la basse et à Samuele à la batterie l’occasion de nous montrer qu’ils manient aussi bien les parties douces que les rythmiques bien plus énergiques, et le tout pour notre plus grand bonheur. Samuele, qu’on retrouve dans les groupes Iris Palea et Nirano, remplace Ivan, absent pour cette tournée, et autant vous dire qu’il s’en sort à merveille. Chaque titre est un pur bonheur et on sent l’envie du public de montrer à Konoha que le nord de la France sait accueillir pour leur premier passage ici. Au fil du set on sent que la communion entre le groupe et le public est forte et cette ambiance ne sera que renforcée par l’arrivée pour un titre de Lore, vocaliste de Chevalier pour un duo des plus captivant avec son ami Vitto. La puissance sonore est là mais c’est surtout les frissons laissés par le groupe qu’on retiendra de ce set d’anthologie qui, on l’espère n’est que le premier du longue série dans les salles lilloises. Konoha ont tout retourné sur leur passage et nous laissent avec un beau message d’unité et de lutte contre la transphobie collé derrière la guitare.
Pour terminer la soirée c’est au tour de Chevalier de fouler la scène du High Voltage. Là encore on est sur une totale découverte pour une grande partie du public, signe d’une confiance forte du public lillois envers les organisatrices de la soirée. Là encore on part très vite sur un set puisant porté par les cris magistraux de Lore. Le groupe nous présente son emoviolence magistral porté par les riffs danstesques de Pesca. Côté rythmique Fede à la basse et Simo à la batterie ne sont pas en reste et donnent tout pour faire remuer le public, qui ne tarde pas à suivre dans cette énergie cathartique proposée par le groupe italien. Là encore on découvre une formation d’une puissance sans commune mesure nous assenant des titres dévastateurs et porteurs de messages forts qui rejoignent ceux partagés par leurs amis de Konoha. Quand on connait les combats du monde pour plus de liberté pour toutes les personnes et la situation actuelle en italie on peut comprendre à quel point le groupe a besoin de se défouloir pour nous émouvoir tout en faisant avancer les choses. Car oui la transphobie tue, l’homophobie également et ces morceaux viennent nous rappeler à quel point se battre est important. Là encore la communion entre le public lillois et le groupe est évidente et on sent que chaque musicien.ne du groupe prend cette chaleur humaine à bras le corps pour un set toujours plus énergique et taillé pour retourner la salle. Le groupe nous présente les titres de leurs différentes sorties et nous fait découvrir une discographie qu’on a envie de foncer écouter au plus vite. Les morceaux s’enchaînent et jusqu’à la dernière note on est transportés par la musique proposée par la formation. Les musicien.nes s’étreignent avant de quitter la scène en remerciant tout le monde pour l’accueil pour ce premier passage dans la région. Un bien beau moment que l’on espère revivre là encore au plus vite avec Chevalier.
La scène scremo emoviolence italienne et française a montré sa vitalité ce soir et le public a répondu présent en nombre, signe que le genre a de bien beaux jours devant lui surtout avec des formations aussi talentueuses. On ne peut que remercier Assaut Productions de proposer ce genre de dates à Lille et on espère que beaucoup d’autres suivront tant les émotions vécues ce soir furent fortes. On this Easter Monday, if you were a fan of screamo, High Voltage was the place to be. Assaut Productions had organised a huge event featuring two acts from the Italian scene, as well as a well-known local band. So, accompanied by Chevalier, Konoha and Lorem Ipsum, we set off on an emotionally charged musical journey.

The crowd is already out in force, ready to be hit head-on by the raw power of Lorem Ipsum’s acoustic screamo. The band, who captivated us in the studio with their EP Même Quand Ta Main Quittera La Mienne, released in February 2025, kick off with a bang as Maxime’s voice echoes from the back of the room – mic-less, with a piercing scream that sends shivers down your spine. On stage, which he quickly joins, we find Arthur (Dear Liars) on acoustic guitar, Alexandre on violin and Bastien on drums. Soon, the band’s songs, which explore the theme of parenthood, strike a chord deep within us. These tracks, screamed almost entirely without a microphone by Maxime—and on numerous occasions by Arthur too—take on even greater power when you realise that the band members’ children are sitting in the front row. The emotional power of Lorem Ipsum is matched only by the strength of the acoustic side of their music. The violin parts are masterful and complement the drums and acoustic guitar perfectly. In addition to tracks such as “Tes yeux clos” and “Sergueï”, the band also treats us to a previously unreleased track which, once again, gives each musician the chance to captivate us, bringing tears to our eyes. Bastien also lets us hear his voice – still without a microphone – and is so absorbed in his performance and the emotion of the lyrics that you can see his eyes drifting away, yet another sign of the immense power of these utterly sublime lyrics. The concert flies by at breakneck speed and Maxime doesn’t hesitate to head back to the benches at the side of the room to sing as close as possible to an audience utterly spellbound by the performance. ‘Véro’ brings this set to a close in the most beautiful way possible, leaving us eager to share such powerful musical experiences with Lorem Ipsum again as soon as possible! A stunning start to the evening that left no one unmoved!
Now we’re off to Italy with Konoha. Whilst fans of the cloning ninja might recognise the name of his village, it’s actually to our neighbours across the Alps that we’re heading. Right from the start, the band treats us to some incredibly powerful screamo that serves as a reminder of why the Italian scene is one of the most vibrant around at the moment. Vitto’s vocals hit us with full force whilst Tan and Full’s riffs sweep us up in a mesmerising melodic whirlwind. The Italian lyrics add a real dimension to the band’s sound, and even if the language isn’t familiar to us, we can sense in every track a desire to convey to the audience some of the most heart-wrenching music imaginable. The tracks give Ste on bass and Samuele on drums the chance to show us that they handle the softer parts just as well as the much more energetic rhythms, much to our delight. Samuele, who also plays in the bands Iris Palea and Nirano, is standing in for Ivan, who is absent for this tour, and needless to say, he’s doing a brilliant job. Every track is pure joy, and you can feel the audience’s eagerness to show Konoha that the north of France knows how to welcome them on their first visit here. As the set progresses, you can really feel the strong connection between the band and the audience, and this atmosphere is only heightened when Lore, Chevalier’s vocalist, joins them for a track, delivering a truly captivating duet with her friend Vitto. The sheer power of the sound is there, but it is above all the goosebumps left by the band that we will remember from this legendary set, which we hope is just the first in a long series of gigs in Lille’s venues. Konoha have turned everything upside down in their wake and leave us with a beautiful message of unity and the fight against transphobia stuck to the back of the guitar.
To round off the evening, it’s Chevalier’s turn to take to the stage at High Voltage. Once again, this is a complete unknown to a large section of the audience, a sign of the Lille crowd’s strong trust in the event organisers. Once again, they launch straight into a powerful set, driven by Lore’s commanding vocals. The band delivers their masterful brand of emoviolence, propelled by Pesca’s dantean riffs. On the rhythm side, Fede on bass and Simo on drums are no slouches either, giving it their all to get the crowd moving—and it doesn’t take long for the audience to get swept up in the cathartic energy offered by the Italian band. Once again, we discover a band of unparalleled power, delivering devastating tracks carrying powerful messages that echo those shared by their friends in Konoha. When you consider the global struggles for greater freedom for all people and the current situation in Italy, you can understand just how much the band needs to let off steam to move us whilst driving change forward. Because yes, transphobia kills, homophobia too, and these tracks serve as a reminder of just how important it is to fight. Once again, the connection between the Lille audience and the band is clear, and you can sense that every member of the band is embracing this warmth with gusto, delivering a set that grows ever more energetic and is tailor-made to get the crowd going. The band treats us to tracks from their various releases, introducing us to a discography we can’t wait to dive into. The tracks flow seamlessly, and right up to the very last note, we’re swept away by the music the band delivers. The musicians hug each other before leaving the stage, thanking everyone for the warm welcome on this first visit to the region. A truly wonderful moment that we hope to experience again with Chevalier as soon as possible.
The Italian and French scremo and evo-violence scene demonstrated its vitality tonight, and the crowd turned out in force – a sign that the genre has a bright future ahead of it, especially with such talented bands. We can only thank Assaut Productions for organising this sort of event in Lille, and we hope many more will follow, given just how intense the emotions were tonight. Thanks to Marye and Justine for everything, thanks to the bands for the shivers, and thanks to the venue for the warm welcome.
