Un des très bons avantages aux plateformes musicales, c’est bien les playlists et suggestions qu’elles proposent. Pendant une écoute de la playlist « Bleu Blanc Rage » proposé par Spotify, je tombe sur un nom tout nouveau pour moi : Aurore. Instantannément happée, je découvre qu’ils sortent un album très prochainement. Nous voici donc ce lundi 27 février pour découvrir ce que les Français d’Aurore ont dans le ventre avec l’album Sparks en autoproduction.

Pour un premier album, Aurore ne font pas les choses à moitié ! Sparks est un album qui reprends à la perfection les codes qui entourent le métalcore et le hardcore. Il faut dire que la scène Française est extrêmement prolifique dans ce genre et qu’il devient de plus en plus difficile de se démarquer dans cet océan de sortie. Et pourtant, Aurore vont nous proposer 9 morceaux d’une grande qualité. « Roller Derby » apporte un hardcore où les premiers pas de 2-step font leur apparition. La voix de Charley Gouverneur s’associe à celle de Clément Vauchelle pour une composition efficace qui n’oublie rien à ce qui fait un bon titre de core, même pas le fameux « blegh ». Mais le titre le plus représentatif du genre sera « Whip It! ». Les rythmiques apportées par Ugo Cigliano à la batterie vibrent en nous et offre un très beau breakdown. Le groupe n’oublie pas les influences qui ont marqué leur manière de jouer, et « Holidays » vient faire pétiller l’album. Ça sent bon les vacances, et c’est exactement ce qui est attendu des titres de punk rock : de la bonne vibe, des guitares dansantes et l’image d’une soirée d’été. Pari réussi ! Le single « Hostile » trouvera une place de choix, et mettra en évidence le chant qualitatif de Clément. L’ambiance des compositions ne retombe jamais, et les deux interludes, malgré leurs calmes y contribueront. Quand « Bathroom » porte à la perfection son nom, les sons sont étouffés, et on se sent embrumé, « We’re All Leaving » offre une conversation peu perceptible sauf la dernière phrase éponyme, amenant le dernier morceau de l’album. « Sparks Die Young » et effectivement, on est déçu que cet album touche déjà à sa fin.

Clément, Maxime, Ugo & Vincent nous ont offert un très bon premier album. Sparks a toutes ses chances de faire des étincelles dans le métalcore montant Français. Aurore savent composer et écrire des titres catchy, avec des refrains qui rentrent en tête assez facilement. On a hâte de voir ça en live, et on espère qu’ils feront le déplacement jusque Lille très prochainement.

So here we are this Monday, February 27th to discover what the French band Aurore have in their belly with the album Sparks in self-production.

For a first album, Aurore don’t do things by halves! Sparks is an album that perfectly resumes the codes that surround metalcore and hardcore. It must be said that the French scene is extremely prolific in this genre and that it becomes increasingly difficult to stand out in this ocean of releases. And yet, Aurore are going to offer us 9 tracks of a great quality. « Roller Derby » brings a hardcore where the first steps of 2-step make their appearance. The voice of Charley Gouverneur joins that of Clément Vauchelle for an effective composition which does not forget anything that makes a good core track, not even the famous « blegh ». But the most representative track of the genre is « Whip It! The rhythmics brought by Ugo Cigliano on drums vibrate in us and offers a very nice breakdown. The band doesn’t forget the influences that marked their way of playing, and « Holidays » comes to make the album sparkle. It smells good the vacations, and it is exactly what is expected from punk rock tracks: good vibe, dancing guitars and the image of a summer evening. Successful bet! The single « Hostile » will find a place of choice, and will highlight the qualitative singing of Clément. The atmosphere of the compositions never falls down, and the two interludes, in spite of their calms will contribute to it. When « Bathroom » perfectly carries its name, the sounds are muffled, and one feels fogged, « We’re All Leaving » offers a conversation little perceptible except the last eponymous phrase, bringing the last track of the album. « Sparks Die Young » and indeed, we are disappointed that this album is already coming to an end.

Clément, Maxime, Ugo & Vincent offered us a very good first album. Sparks has all its chances to make sparks in the French rising metalcore. Aurore know how to compose and write catchy songs, with choruses that get into your head quite easily. We can’t wait to see them live, and we hope they’ll make the trip to Lille very soon.
