Les lyonnais de Resolve reviennent ce 15 septembre avec un deuxième album Human chez Arising Empire faisant suite à Between me and the machine. Ils viennent vient ici apposer des “New Colors”  en  troquant le blanc et le vert pour le noir.

On commence avec le titre éponyme “Human”, faisant partie des titres déjà dévoilés avant l’album. On sent dès l’ouverture que l’ambiance est d’apporter un son un peu plus électronique ou du moins jouer avec les sonorités synthétiques comparées au dernier album. Le titre est efficace, le riff nous attrape directement avec violence. On remarque aussi un travail sur le chant d’Anthony Diliberto dans la continuité de la direction artistique qui semble se dégager du projet.  

On continue la route de cet album avec “Death Awaits”,  autre titre sorti en promotion dont nous avons déjà tester l’accroche avec le public lors de leur passage en première partie de While She Sleeps. Le jeu et le chant d’Antonin Carré sont impeccables et le titre dégage un bonne aura avec des paroles sur le self improvement et un refrain catchy.

La bonne surprise de l’album arrive à la 3eme place quand on commence à entendre Aaron Matts (Ten56.) et Zelli (Paleface Swiss). Le titre est fait pour mettre à l’aise les invités où on peut aisément retrouver quelques ambiances Trap/hip hop sur le track. Les 3 vocalistes se répondent tout au long de l’écoute qui est vraiment un pur plaisir au vu de la qualité de chacun.

Premier titre non promotionnel avec « Continuum », où on change directement d’ambiance pour quelque chose de plus introspectif avec bcp de plus de guitare et chant clair, permettant de faire une petite pause dans toute cette énergie envoyée. On hésite déjà à lâcher la petite larme.

S’ensuit des titres bien violents comme « Blood Bust » avec du bons bends, du breakdown, du blegh. Nathan Mariat et Robin Mariat ressortent bien sur le morceau. « Confortably Dumb », gros clin d’œil à Pink Floyd, groupe qu’ Anthony aime comme l’atteste le petit solo à la Gilmour sur le track “Between Me and the Machine” , le titre ne donne aucune pause à notre plus grand plaisir.. 

L’album est aussi complété par des titres beaucoup plus calmes comme « In stone », avec des petites notes au violon, ce qui semble de la reverb low-fi de guitare, un solo magnifique.

Parmi les titres de l’album on peut ressortir « New Colors », qui est à l’image de la métamorphose du groupe, c’est ça le son Resolve : de l’innovation dans les sonorités, des textes introspectifs, des bons changements de rythme, une bonne fin et un riff atmosphérique. On passe au passage, un gros bravo à Aurélien Mariat pour le clip.

Resolve nous font ici, cadeau de leur 2ème album Human,  qui malgré le nom nous amène vers une évolution de leur son plus électro/synthétique. Il ramène aussi leur lot de surprises allant du pop “Ignite”, du trap,Hip/hop  Un beau voyage de 11 titres et 44 minutes sur la nature humaine, le doute, le pardon, l’acceptation de soi et de tout ce qui fait l’Humain en général.

Resolve, from Lyon, return on 15 September with their second album, Human, on Arising Empire, following on from Between me and the machine. They’ve added some ‘New Colors’ here, swapping white and green for black.

We begin with the eponymous track « Human », one of the tracks already unveiled before the album. You can tell from the opening that the mood is to bring in a slightly more electronic sound, or at least play with the synthetic tones compared to the last album. The track is effective, the riff grabbing you straight away with violence. Anthony Diliberto‘s vocals also stand out, in keeping with the artistic direction that seems to be emerging from the project.

We continue the album’s journey with ‘Death Awaits’, another track released as part of a promotional campaign, which we’ve already tested out with the public when they supported While She Sleeps. Antonin Carré‘s playing and singing are impeccable, and the track has a good aura about it, with lyrics about self improvement and a catchy chorus.

The album’s pleasant surprise comes in 3rd place when we start to hear Aaron Matts (Ten56.) and Zelli (Paleface Swiss). The track is designed to put the guests at their ease, and you can easily find some trap/hip hop ambiences on it. The 3 vocalists respond to each other throughout the listening experience, which is a pure pleasure given the quality of each.

« Continuum », the first non-promotional track, takes us straight into a more introspective mood, with a lot more guitar and clear vocals, allowing us to take a little break from all the energy. We’re already reluctant to shed a tear.

Violent tracks like « Blood Bust » follow, with good bends, breakdowns and blegh. Nathan Mariat and Robin Mariat stand out on this track. « Confortably Dumb », a big nod to Pink Floyd, a band Anthony loves, as evidenced by the little Gilmour-style solo on the track « Between Me and the Machine », is a track that doesn’t let up, much to our delight.

The album is also rounded out by much quieter tracks like ‘In Stone’, with little violin notes, what sounds like low-fi guitar reverb, and a magnificent solo.

album’s stand-out track is « New Colors », which reflects the band’s metamorphosis – that’s the Resolve sound: innovative sounds, introspective lyrics, good changes of pace, a good ending and an atmospheric riff. By the way, congratulations to Aurélien Mariat for the video.

Resolve give us the gift of their 2nd album, Human, which, despite the name, takes us on a more electro/synthetic journey. It’s also full of surprises, ranging from the pop of ‘Ignite’ to trap and hip/hop. It’s a beautiful journey of 11 tracks and 44 minutes about human nature, doubt, forgiveness, self-acceptance and everything that makes us human in general.
