Après un premier album en 2018, Fuzzy Grass sont de retour avec leur deuxième album, disponible depuis le 6 octobre dernier via Kozmik Artifactz. Intitulé The Revenge Of The Blue Nut, il nous raconte l’histoire d’un homme cacahuète dans une ambiance rock psyché très imprégnée des années 70. Les toulousain.ne.s sont prêt.e.s à nous faire voyager, et nos oreilles y sont totalement parées!

La guitare de Laura Luiz nous accueille dans le vaisseau qui nous fera voyager, avant que la voix de Audric Faucheux nous narre le début de cette histoire étonnante. En quelques secondes on est frappé par deux choses. En premier lieu, le son du groupe est excellent et emporte l’auditeur dans une aventure psychédélique dès les premiers instants d’écoutes. Et aussi, on se laisse surprendre par les sonorités analogiques offertes par le studio de La Trappe à Toulouse. On se retrouve non seulement plongé dans les aventures de notre homme cacahuète mais aussi dans un vortex temporel destination les années 70.
Le duo basse/batterie formé par Thomas Hobeck et Clément Gaudry-Santiago prends tout son espace sur « I’m Alright » et son tempo lent parfaitement maîtrisé. L’impression d’avoir plongé dans l’esprit du personnage principal est totale et on suit ses pérégrinations comme si l’on lisait un roman mis en musique. Le tempo s’accélère un peu pour laisser place à une deuxième partie de morceau méga entrainante qui nous laisse une fois encore stupéfait par la qualité de ce que l’on a dans les oreilles. Les machines et l’orgue viennent pointer le bout de leur nez et apportent encore un plus à la musique déjà inoubliable des toulousains. On vous invite à vous dandiner en hochant la tête sur « Insight » avant la claque que sera le dernier titre « Moonlight Shades »! Dans cette dernière composition, chapitre final de notre histoire, chaque musicien.ne donne un dernier aperçu de tout son talent. Impossible de ne pas se dire que la formation a muri cet album pendant des années tant le résultat final est impressionnant de maîtrise.
On se rappelle d’ailleurs que Laura était déjà dans un de nos albums favoris de l’année (celui de Red Cloud) et on est ravi de se dire que ça en fera un deuxième, et en plus à un poste différent! Une preuve supplémentaire, s’il en fallait que notre scène peut rivaliser et de loin avec les groupes étrangers!
The Revenge of The Blue Nut est un pur album qui ravira les fans de rock psyché et de stoner. Fuzzy Grass nous montrent leur tout meilleur et nous enchantent avec un album qui aura de belles choses à nous révéler à chaque nouvelle écoute. On espère que les dates de la formation toulousaine passeront par le Nord car on sait que beaucoup n’hésiterons pas une seconde à foncer les voir! En tout cas jetez vous sur cet album qui transpire la passion et le goût de la musique intemporelle.

After their debut album in 2018, Fuzzy Grass are back with their second album, available since 6 October via Kozmik Artifactz. Entitled The Revenge Of The Blue Nut, it tells the story of a peanut man in a psychedelic rock atmosphere steeped in the 70s. The Toulouse-based band are ready to take us on a journey, and our ears are all set!
Laura Luiz‘s guitar welcomes us into the ship that will take us on a journey, before Audric Faucheux‘s voice narrates the beginning of this astonishing story. Two things strike you in the space of a few seconds. Firstly, the band’s sound is excellent, taking the listener on a psychedelic adventure right from the start. Secondly, you’re taken aback by the analogue sounds produced in the La Trappe studio in Toulouse. Not only do we find ourselves immersed in the adventures of our peanut man, but also in a time vortex to the 70s.
The bass/drums duo of Thomas Hobeck and Clément Gaudry-Santiago take centre stage on « I’m Alright », with its perfectly controlled slow tempo. The impression of having plunged into the mind of the main character is total and we follow his peregrinations as if we were reading a novel set to music. The tempo picks up a little, giving way to a mega-hip second half that once again leaves you stunned by the quality of what you’ve got in your ears. The machines and organ come into play, adding yet another dimension to the already unforgettable music from Toulouse. We invite you to waddle and shake your head to « Insight » before the final track, « Moonlight Shades », hits you! In this final composition, the final chapter of our story, each musician gives a final glimpse of all their talent. It’s impossible not to think that the band have been working on this album for years, so impressive is their mastery of the final result.
We remember that Laura was already on one of our favourite albums of the year (Red Cloud‘s album) and we’re delighted to think that this will be a second one, and in a different role! Further proof, if any were needed, that our scene can rival foreign bands by a long way!
The Revenge of The Blue Nut is a pure album that will delight fans of psychedelic rock and stoner. Fuzzy Grass show us their very best and delight us with an album that will have great things to reveal with each new listen. We hope the band from Toulouse play dates in the North of France, because we know that many people won’t hesitate for a second to go and see them! In any case, don’t miss this album, which exudes passion and a taste for timeless music.
