The Chisel, groupe punk londonien, revient en force avec leur nouvel album What A Fucking Nightmare qui sort ce 9 février chez Pure Noise Records. Cet album, enregistré par John Atkinson et produit par Jonah Falco, est une bombe de Oi! et de stomp hardcore. Le groupe s’est imposé dans la scène punk comme l’une des révélations du moment, avec leur talent pour mêler l’agressivité à des mélodies accrocheuses. Avec cet album, The Chisel a réussi à affiner leur son et à le rendre plus percutant et plus efficace que jamais. Influencés par le hardcore old school, le UK82 et d’autres genres de punk brutaux, The Chisel se démarque par leur talent à combiner riffs acérés et mélodie dans leurs morceaux.

L’album de The Chisel est une véritable bombe de punk rock qui ne laisse pas indifférent. Dès le premier morceau, on est plongé dans une ambiance bruitiste et chaotique au tendance Noise Rock , avec la voix écorchée du chanteur qui lance un « What a Fucking Nightmare » avant de passer à « No Gimmicks », un titre qui décoiffe par sa rapidité et son énergie.. On enchaîne avec « Cry Your Eyes Out », un morceau plus mélodique mais tout aussi efficace, qui nous accroche avec son refrain entêtant et ses paroles engagées. A peine l’album commencé, on sent déjà que le single est un tube en devenir et surtout avec un refrain qui pour sûr sera repris en chœur lors de leur concert. The Chisel nous parle de la réalité de la classe ouvrière, de ses luttes et de sa solidarité, sans concession ni artifice. Le groupe alterne les tempos et les ambiances, passant du sombre au festif, du rageur au nostalgique comme peut nous monter cet enchaînement entre le mélancolique “Cry your eyes out” et “Nice to meet you”. On retrouve des influences de groupes comme Angelic Upstarts ou The Specials, mais avec une touche personnelle et originale. 

Au fil de l’album, on sent que The Chisel est un groupe qui ne se laisse pas enfermer dans une seule étiquette. Leur album est un voyage musical qui explore différents styles et influences, tout en gardant une énergie punk et une attitude rebelle. On y trouve des titres qui rappellent le rock’n’roll des années 50, comme « Johnny B.
