Les canadiens de Comeback Kid nous offrent en ce mois de mars 2024 un tout nouvel EP, intitulé Trouble EP, via Sharptone Records. Toujours prêts à nous communiquer l’énergie de leur punk hardcore depuis maintenant plus de 20 ans, ils nous proposent quatre titres à écouter d’urgence !

L’EP démarre par le single déjà sorti depuis quelques mois « Trouble In The Winner Circle ». Un clip est également associé à ce titre, dans lequel on voit les musiciens coincés dans un bocal à poissons, spectateurs passifs de la violence autour d’eux. C’est une entrée en matière on ne peut plus efficace. En effet, le morceau est dynamique, et les riffs mélodiques qui se mêlent aux lignes rythmiques agressives et à la voix criée de Andrew Neufeld donnent le ton de l’EP. Quelques passages restent bien en tête, en cela en fera à coup sûr un titre que le public reprendra en chœur lors des prochains live des Canadiens. « Disruption » se veut sur un degré supplémentaire d’agressivité, avec un Andrew Neufeld qui semble faire sortir une rage communicative, comme un hymne servant d’exutoire autant au groupe qu’à l’auditeur, un titre qui porte bien son nom en somme. Là où Comeback Kid réussit un numéro d’équilibriste parfait c’est très certainement sur « Chompin’ At The Bit ». En effet le morceau alterne à la perfection couplets agressifs et refrains particulièrement mélodiques. La variation de la voix d’Andrew rythme à la perfection le titre qui nous fait faire un ascenseur émotionnel constant. L’EP se referme avec « Breaking and Bruised », avec toujours cette même énergie. Quelques chœurs apportent une profondeur au morceau. Un titre qui donne envie de panser ses blessures au milieu d’un bon pit avec Comeback Kid !

Trouble EP c’est donc court mais intense ! En moins de 15 minutes, les Canadiens de Comeback Kid arrivent à nous transmettre l’essence même de leur punk hardcore efficace et travaillé depuis des années. On ne peut que vous conseiller d’y jeter une oreille, et vous verrez qu’on a tendance à se le faire en boucle !

In March 2024, Canadian band Comeback Kid are releasing a brand new EP, entitled Trouble EP, via Sharptone Records. Always ready to communicate the energy of their hardcore punk for over 20 years now, they’ve come up with four tracks that are a must-listen!

The EP kicks off with the single ‘Trouble In The Winner Circle’, which was released a few months ago. The track is also accompanied by a video clip showing the musicians trapped in a fishbowl, passive spectators of the violence around them. It’s a very effective way to start. Indeed, the track is dynamic, and the melodic riffs mingling with the aggressive rhythm lines and Andrew Neufeld‘s screamed vocals set the tone for the EP. There are a few passages that really stick in your head, and this is sure to be a track that the crowd will be singing along to at future live performances by the Canadians. « Disruption’ takes things to a new level of aggression, with Andrew Neufeld seeming to let out an infectious rage, like an anthem serving as an outlet for both the band and the listener, a track that lives up to its name. Where Comeback Kid pulls off a perfect balancing act is on ‘Chompin’ At The Bit’. The track alternates perfectly between aggressive verses and particularly melodic choruses. The variation in Andrew’s vocals gives perfect rhythm to the track, which takes us on a constant emotional lift. The EP closes with ‘Breaking and Bruised’, still with the same energy. A few backing vocals add depth to the track. A track that makes you want to lick your wounds in the middle of a good pit with Comeback Kid!

So Trouble EP is short but intense! In less than 15 minutes, the Canadians of Comeback Kid manage to convey the very essence of their effective hardcore punk, which they’ve been working on for years. We’d advise you to give it a listen, and you’ll see that it’s one we’ve been playing over and over again!
