Soirée des premières, en effet, Final Gasp vient jouer son premier album Mourning Moon dans sa tournée européenne qui s’arrête en ce 19 avril à la Bratcave, dans une belle soirée organisée par Bricks. Le plateau sera complété par Cold Phase , nouveau groupe de la scène lilloise et Insurgent avec son melodic hardcore pour preter la salle au hardcore gothique de Final Gasp venant clore la soirée.

La soirée commence avec une grande première pour Cold Phase, qui après quelques mois foulent enfin leur première scène. On ne va pas se cacher, le groupe est une nouvelle formation mais les artistes sont déjà bien connus de la scène. On peut retrouver des gars de  November, Sick Nerves, The Lumberjack Feedback, Bare teeth, Barque … Petite surprise du set,  la présence d’Hugo de Dear Liars et Ethna venant remplacer l’autre batteur souffrant. Première date dit quand même petit stress du début pour le chanteur mais qui au fur et à mesure du set a vu son expérience de la scène revenir et  nous délivrer une super performance. La formation nous livre un bon hardcore qui change des schémas habituels que nous avons dans le Nord. A l’image d’Insurgent plus tard dans la soirée, le groupe propose quelque chose de rafraîchissant qui plaira aux passionnés comme au non initiés au hardcore.

Un plaisir de retrouver Insurgent le quintet des Hauts de France qui viennent aujourd’hui avec plus de bagages que la dernière fois aux Bruits d’Été. En effet c’est avec une signature de label chez Useless Pride Records et un nouveau titre “A Legacy We All Give” sorti sur les plateformes que le groupe débarque sur scène. La date fait office d’ouverture de leur weekender France – Belgique – Pays-Bas. Le groupe garde son énergie atypique au melodic hardcore et le moins que l’on puisse dire c’est que l’ambiance a été au rendez-vous. Pas mal d’amis du guitariste sont là pour son anniversaire ajoutant à ces festivités, des mosh part et side to side endiablés (petite pensée pour les verres dans le pit) . On savait à quoi s’attendre avec Insurgent et on ne peut que valider la trajectoire musicale qui est prise par le groupe permettant d’imprégner de leur patte la scène hardcore des Hauts de France.

Final Gasp vient clôturer cette soirée, le sextuor (réduit en quintet aujourd’hui) de Punk deathrock américain (avec des membres des groupes hardcore Antagonize et Wound Man). Soirée des premières, ils viennent défendre leur premier album Mourning Moon dans la dernière ligne droite de leur tournée se terminant par les dates de Lille puis Paris. Changement de style radical, où l’ambiance devient plus lourde, sublimée par l’apparition des combos vestes en jeans / Doc Martens. Mais surtout par l’atmosphère imposée par le groupe que l’on comprend dès le titre “ Climax Infinity”. Les sons naviguent entre deathrock et Samhain sur le côté Punk. Le groupe a bien emmené le public avec lui malgré des problèmes de micro. Le concert est à l’image du groupe et son amour pour le grandiloquent, durant tout le set, Jacob Murphy viendra nous hurler toute la souffrance qu’il endure, réel moteur de création de l’album. 

Plateau éclectique et beaucoup de première ce soir qui permet de voir la naissance d’un nouveau groupe et de pouvoir profiter de Mourning Moon en live. Pas mal de problèmes de micro viendront entacher la soirée mais n’ont en aucun cas refroidi l’ambiance à la Bratcave.

A night of firsts, in fact, as Final Gasp play their debut album Mourning Moon on their European tour, which stops off at the Bratcave on 19 April, in a fine evening organised by Bricks. The line-up will be rounded out by Cold Phase, a new band on the Lille scene, and Insurgent with their melodic hardcore, before Final Gasp’s gothic hardcore brings the evening to a close.

The evening kicks off with a grand premiere for Cold Phase, who after a few months finally hit the stage for the first time. Let’s face it, this is a new band, but the artists are already well known on the scene. You’ll find guys from November, Sick Nerves, The Lumberjack Feedback, Bare teeth, Barque… A little surprise of the set, the presence of Hugo from Dear Liars and Ethna replacing the other drummer who was unwell. The singer was a little stressed at the start, but as the set progressed his stage experience returned and he delivered a superb performance. The band’s hardcore was a welcome change from the usual northern fare. Like Insurgent later in the evening, the band offer something refreshing that will appeal to hardcore fans and non-enthusiasts alike.

It’s a pleasure to welcome back Insurgent, the quintet from the Hauts de France who come to Bruits d’Été with more baggage than last time. They’ve just signed to Useless Pride Records, and their new track, ‘A Legacy We All Give’, is out now. The date serves as the opening act for their France – Belgium – Netherlands weekender. The band kept up their atypical melodic hardcore energy, and the least we can say is that the atmosphere was great. Quite a few of the guitarist’s friends were there to celebrate his birthday, adding to the festivities with some wild mosh parts and side-to-sides (with a thought for the drinks in the pit). We knew what to expect with Insurgent, and we can’t help but agree with the musical trajectory the band has taken, putting their stamp on the hardcore scene in the Hauts de France.

Final Gasp round off the evening, a sextet (now reduced to a quintet) of American deathrock punk (with members of hardcore bands Antagonize and Wound Man). A night of firsts, they come to defend their debut album Mourning Moon in the home stretch of their tour, which ends with dates in Lille and Paris. A radical change of style, with a heavier atmosphere, enhanced by the appearance of jean jackets and Doc Martens. But above all the atmosphere imposed by the band is clear from the title track ‘Climax Infinity’. The sounds sail between deathrock and Samhain on the punk side. The band took the audience with them despite some microphone problems. The concert was a reflection of the band and their love of the grandiloquent: throughout the set, Jacob Murphy screamed out all the suffering he endured, the real driving force behind the creation of the album.

An eclectic line-up and a lot of firsts tonight, giving us the chance to see the birth of a new band and to enjoy Mourning Moon live. The evening was marred by a number of microphone problems, but these did nothing to dampen the spirits at La Bratcave.
