La formation originale Oracle Sisters,  réunion de Lewis Lazar, Christopher Willat et Julia Johansen, trois multi-instrumentistes passionnés et expérimentés, sort son deuxième album Divination ce 14 février 2025. Cet opus marque un tournant dans leur façon de composer, de travailler ensemble, et a été réalisé en totale liberté, notamment grâce à la création de leur propre label : Wizards Artists.

Les sonorités de Oracle Sisters sont une véritable pépite de douceur qui arrive tranquillement à nos oreilles. “Riverside” nous installe dans une ambiance cosy, et résonne comme une invitation à une parenthèse, à prendre le temps d’écouter l’opus. “Marseille” nous embarque dans un rythme chaloupé et léger, nous berçant agréablement. Au fil des morceaux, les rythmes varient, les ambiances également. Les musiciens ont d’ailleurs choisi pour cet album d’échanger leurs instruments au gré des morceaux, apportant des colorations différentes aux compositions. Divinationsest comme un voyage, durant lequel on découvre différents paysages. Sur fond de folk on visite ainsi des contrées pop, jazzy, funk… On ressent à la fois des influences old school et une certaine fraîcheur. Certains titres sont emplis d’une douce nostalgie, à l’instar de “Velveteen”. On se sent réellement en immersion dans l’univers de Oracle Sisters. Entre instruments acoustiques et sonorités plus électroniques, l’équilibre est toujours subtil. Dans “Shotguns” c’est la voix qui passe au premier plan, l’instrumental semblant se retirer pour simplement sublimer ce titre, non sans toujours quelques sonorités originales. Dans “Moon on the Water”, un doux saxophone jazzy vient refermer le titre tout en nous offrant encore une nouvelle couleur de la large palette de Oracle Sisters. A l’écoute, on ressent la recherche et la création, tout comme l’osmose entre les musiciens. On sent qu’on est face à des artistes bourrés de talents. L’album peut s’écouter à divers niveaux, convenant aussi bien à des oreilles amatrices, qu’à des connaisseurs.

Alors que dehors, le monde va de plus en plus vite dans une frénésie qui nous aspire parfois, Oracle Sisters nous propose de prendre le temps. Divinations est une véritable parenthèse dans le tumulte du quotidien. Les onze titres nous enveloppent et nous emmènent dans un univers hors du temps. 

Oracle Sisters seront de passage à l’Aéronef de Lille le 10 avril prochain mais également à Paris, Dijon, Bordeaux, Toulouse et Lyon durant mars.

The sounds of Oracle Sisters are a veritable nugget of gentleness that quietly reaches our ears. “Riverside” settles us into a cosy ambience, sounding like an invitation to take time out and listen to the opus. “Marseille” takes us into a light, swaying rhythm, lulling us pleasantly. As the tracks progress, the rhythms vary, as do the moods. In fact, for this album, the musicians have chosen to swap instruments, bringing different colors to the compositions. Divinations is like a journey through different landscapes. With a folk background, we visit pop, jazzy and funk lands… We feel both old-school influences and a certain freshness. Some tracks, like “Velveteen”, are filled with a gentle nostalgia. You really feel immersed in the world of Oracle Sisters. The balance between acoustic instruments and more electronic sounds is always subtle. In “Shotguns”, it’s the voice that takes center stage, with the instrumental seeming to recede into the background to simply sublimate the track, though not without a few original sounds. In “Moon on the Water”, a soft, jazzy saxophone closes the track, giving us yet another color from Oracle Sisters’ broad palette. Listening to them, you can feel the research and creation, as well as the osmosis between the musicians. You get the feeling you’re dealing with artists bursting with talent. The album can be listened to at various levels, suiting both amateur ears and connoisseurs.

While outside, the world goes faster and faster in a frenzy that sometimes sucks us in, Oracle Sisters suggest we take our time. Divinations is a real interlude in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The eleven tracks envelop us and take us into a universe outside of time.
