Deux ans après la dernière édition, c’est le retour de la Fighters Night à l’Espace Gérard Philippe de Wasquehal! Organisée par La Vallée des Anges, cette soirée caritative a pour but de lever le l’argent pour l’association qui se bat pour que la recherche sur les cancers de enfants avance. Pour cela le rock et le métal sont au coeur de la programmation musicale! Le line-up de ce soir propose le meilleur de la scène locale avec Dear Liars, Big Death Amego, Ahna et Super Sonic Suckers! Autant vous dire qu’on n’allait pas manquer ça et on est ravis de vous raconter cette très belle soirée!

On commence donc avec Super Sonic Suckers! Ce soir tous les groupes ont le droit à des sets un peu plus longs, suite à l’annulation de Junon quelques jours avant l’évènement pour raisons médicales. Ce soir Jean-Yves remplace Victor pour la soirée à la basse, mais Antoine (chant/guitare) et Julien (batterie) sont bien présents pour nous présenter leur rock boosté à la bonne humeur communicative! Fiers de la sortie récente de leur nouveau disque, Satanic Dog // Divine Cat, les musiciens nous en présentent de larges extraits en donnant tout pour réveiller le public déjà nombreux dans la salle. On n’avait pas vu le groupe depuis un moment est force est de constater qu’ils n’ont rien perdu de cette envie de faire du rock avec sérieux mais sans se prendre au sérieux. Antoine viendra même jouer dans le public, avant d’appeler le groupe Dear Liars sur scène pour offrir un gâteau pour fêter les 10 ans de leur formation. Une belle entente qui renforce un peu plus l’alchimie entre les trois musiciens et le public. Les blagues fusent et les riffs et rythmiques imparables aussi! On ne voit pas le temps passer et lorsqu’ils nous annoncent la fin du set on se dit qu’on aurait pas dit non à un ou deux titres de plus. Et c’est dans une pluie d’étincelles que le set de Super Sonic Suckers se termine, comme un signe que la soirée est belle et bien lancée, et de la plus belle des manières.
Petite fête de notre côté aussi car on en est ce soir à notre dixième concert de nos amis de Big Death Amego! Et pour cette soirée exceptionnelle ils ont vu les choses en grand! Un set rallongé, les morceaux les plus efficaces de leur discographie au programme et une prestation d’anthologie! D’entrée Hugues (chant), Louis (basse), Pierre (guitare), Clément (guitare) et Sacha (batterie) sont dans une forme olympique et nous montrent toute l’étendue de la puissance de leur hardcore moderne. Les mosh commencent en force et on sent une vraie communion, là encore entre le groupe et le public. Flavien de Dear Liars viendra donner de la voix pendant le set en accompagnant Hugues dans un duo dont on se rappellera! Plus on voit Big Death Amego, plus on se dit qu’ils ont tout pour être un groupe majeur de la scène hardcore! C’est simple chacun de leur titres est une pure décharge d’adrénaline et d’énergie qui vient vous prendre aux tripes. On profite de chaque note avec un grand plaisir tout en profitant des riffs et rythmiques taillées pour le live. Là encore l’énergie est clairement dantesque et nous confirme que la soirée monte en puissance à chaque minute. Big Death remercient Dear Liars pour l’invitation et nous laissent avec leur désormais immanquable « Northside ». Vous commencez à le savoir, ce groupe fait partie de ceux qu’on adore retrouver encore et encore, alors attendez vous à de nouveaux articles sur eux très bientôt! On a déjà hâte d’entendre ce qu’ils nous réservent pour la suite!
Un petit tour dans le hall et c’est au tour de Ahna de monter sur scène! On part sur un son plus teinté métal alternatif mais avec toujours cette envie de faire remuer le public. Orianne excelle au chant et son alternance chant clair et hurlé fonctionne à merveille. Côté guitare on retrouve Sirem et ses riffs mélodiques à souhait qui viennent vous coller des frissons. Pour danser il faut compter sur Florian à la basse et Guillaume à la batterie, tous deux en très grande forme! Les morceaux du groupe donnent à voir toute l’étendue de leur talent, aussi bien côté composition qu’interprétation. Evidemment leur album Waves (2024) est au coeur du set mais le groupe nous propose aussi une version puissante et augmentée de scream du classique de Paramore, « Decode », qu’on reprendra en chœur avec grand plaisir. La musique du groupe montre qu’ils ont au fond d’eux beaucoup d’influences vairées, toutes visibles ici dans un mélange des plus délicieux pour nos tympans. On reste stupéfait par la qualité des compositions et on se dit qu’Ahna va surement très vite se hisser dans cette scène foisonnante du métal alternatif. On chante, on danse et surtout on profite de ce set imparable. Orianne remercie Hugo pour l’invitation et se lance dans un dernier titre qui termine de mettre tout le monde d’accord! Ahna nous impressionnent un peu plus à chaque concert et espère fort que cette détermination qu’on sent les emmènera loin!
La soirée se termine avec la fête pour les dix ans de Dear Liars! Avec leur set aux Chariots Furieux bien encré en tête, on prend grand plaisir à retrouver la formation sur scène. Hugo, programmateur de cette soirée musicale excelle derrière les fûts et n’hésite pas à inciter le public à remuer toujours plus fort. Au chant, on retrouve Flavien et sa voix puissante! A la guitare, Antho nous propose ses riffs hardcore teintés d’envolées rock’n’roll pendant qu’Arthur nous lance ses meilleures lignes de basse! Le groupe est en forme et nous propose le meilleur de sa discographie, avec un pit qui ne faiblit pas devant les yeux! Les morceaux donnent envie de chanter en chœur avec eux, même ceux plus personnels comme « Burden », où Hugo salue ses parents et rend hommage à sa sœur partie bien trop tôt. Dear Liars nous comblent avec des morceaux toujours plus enthousiasmants qui nous font nous dire que plus on les voit plus on se dit qu’on ne veux plus manquer une de leurs dates dans le coin! Et comme un salut pour fêter l’amitié qui règne depuis le début de la soirée, Hugues (Big Death Amego) et Loïc, tous deux anciens membres de la formation viennent rejoindre le groupe sur scène pour terminer cette anniversaire de Dear Liars de la plus belle des manières. On ne pouvait rêver plus belle fin et on applaudit longuement le groupe, conquis une fois de plus par leur univers et ce cette humanité évidente qui transparait dans leur prestation!
Cette Fighters Night aura tenue toutes ses promesses, avec une scène locale au sommet de ce qu’elle peut proposer. On vit pour ce genre de dates qui n’ont rien à envier à d’autres plus médiatisées. Ici c’est l’humais au coeur de la musique et c’est ça qui est beau. Alors merci à tout les groupes, au public et surtout un grand bravo à La Vallée des Anges et à Hugo pour cette belle fête de la musique au profit d’une belle cause. On espère voir une nouvelle édition très vite, et surtout une recherche qui avance toujours plus vite pour que cette maladie atroce puisse être éradiquée! On quitte la salle heureux et prêts à retrouver tous les groupes au plus vite! Vive le Nord et vive la scène locale!
Two years after the last edition, Fighters Night is back at the Espace Gérard Philippe in Wasquehal! Organised by La Vallée des Anges, this charity event aims to raise money for the association that fights to advance research into childhood cancer. To this end, rock and metal are at the heart of the musical programme! Tonight’s line-up features the best of the local scene with Dear Liars, Big Death Amego, Ahna and Super Sonic Suckers! Needless to say, we weren’t going to miss it and we’re delighted to tell you all about this wonderful evening!

So we start with Super Sonic Suckers! Tonight, all the bands are allowed to play slightly longer sets, following Junon’s cancellation a few days before the event for medical reasons. Tonight, Jean-Yves is replacing Victor on bass, but Antoine (vocals/guitar) and Julien (drums) are there to present their rock music, boosted by their infectious good humour! Proud of the recent release of their new album, Satanic Dog // Divine Cat, the musicians play several tracks from it, giving their all to get the already large audience going. We hadn’t seen the band for a while, and it’s clear that they haven’t lost any of their desire to play rock seriously without taking themselves too seriously. Antoine even comes down to play in the audience before calling the band Dear Liars on stage to offer them a cake to celebrate their 10th anniversary. It’s a beautiful moment that further strengthens the chemistry between the three musicians and the audience. The jokes fly thick and fast, as do the unstoppable riffs and rhythms! Time flies by and when they announce the end of the set, we think we wouldn’t have said no to one or two more songs. And it is amid a shower of sparks that Super Sonic Suckers‘ set ends, as if to signal that the evening is well and truly underway, and in the most beautiful way possible.
It’s a small celebration on our side too, as tonight marks our tenth concert with our friends from Big Death Amego! And for this exceptional evening, they’ve gone all out! An extended set, the most effective tracks from their discography on the programme and a performance for the ages! Right from the start, Hugues (vocals), Louis (bass), Pierre (guitar), Clément (guitar) and Sacha (drums) are in top form and show us the full extent of their modern hardcore power. The moshing starts off strong and there’s a real sense of communion between the band and the audience. Flavien from Dear Liars joined in on vocals during the set, accompanying Hugues in a memorable duet! The more we see Big Death Amego, the more we realise that they have everything it takes to be a major band on the hardcore scene! Quite simply, each of their tracks is a pure adrenaline rush and burst of energy that hits you right in the gut. We enjoy every note with great pleasure while enjoying the riffs and rhythms tailored for live performance. Once again, the energy is clearly intense and confirms that the evening is gaining momentum with every passing minute. Big Death thank Dear Liars for the invitation and leave us with their now unmissable ‘Northside’. As you’re beginning to realise, this band is one of those we love to see again and again, so expect more articles about them very soon! We can’t wait to hear what they have in store for us next!
A quick tour of the hall and it’s Ahna‘s turn to take to the stage! We start with a more alternative metal sound, but still with the same desire to get the audience moving. Orianne excels at singing, and her alternation between clear vocals and screams works wonders. On guitar, we find Sirem and his melodic riffs that give you goosebumps. For dancing, you can count on Florian on bass and Guillaume on drums, both in great form! The band’s songs showcase the full extent of their talent, both in terms of composition and performance. Obviously, their album Waves (2024) is at the heart of the set, but the band also offers us a powerful, scream-enhanced version of Paramore‘s classic ‘Decode’, which we sing along to with great pleasure. The band’s music shows that they have a wide range of influences, all of which are evident here in a delightful mix for our ears. We are amazed by the quality of the compositions and we think that Ahna will surely rise quickly in the thriving alternative metal scene. We sing, we dance and, above all, we enjoy this unstoppable set. Orianne thanks Hugo for the invitation and launches into one last song that brings everyone together! Ahna impresses us a little more with each concert, and we sincerely hope that their determination will take them far!
The evening ends with Dear Liars‘ tenth anniversary party! With their set at Les Chariots Furieux firmly in mind, it’s a real pleasure to see the band back on stage. Hugo, the organiser of this musical evening, excels behind the drums and doesn’t hesitate to encourage the audience to rock even harder. On vocals, we find Flavien and his powerful voice! On guitar, Antho offers us his hardcore riffs tinged with rock “n” roll flourishes, while Arthur throws down his best bass lines! The band is in top form and offers us the best of their discography, with a pit that never falters before our eyes! The songs make you want to sing along with them, even the more personal ones like ‘Burden’, where Hugo salutes his parents and pays tribute to his sister who left us far too soon. Dear Liars delight us with increasingly exciting songs that make us realise that the more we see them, the more we don’t want to miss any of their dates in the area! And as a salute to celebrate the friendship that has reigned since the beginning of the evening, Hugues (Big Death Amego) and Loïc, both former members of the band, join the group on stage to end Dear Liars‘ anniversary in the most beautiful way possible. We couldn’t have dreamed of a better ending and we applauded the band at length, once again won over by their universe and the obvious humanity that shines through in their performance!
This Fighters Night lived up to all its promises, with the local scene at the top of its game. We live for these kinds of events, which are every bit as good as their more high-profile counterparts. Here, it’s the human touch at the heart of the music, and that’s what’s so beautiful about it. So thank you to all the bands, the audience and, above all, a big congratulations to La Vallée des Anges and Hugo for this wonderful music festival in aid of a great cause. We hope to see another edition very soon, and above all, we hope that research continues to progress rapidly so that this terrible disease can be eradicated! We leave the venue happy and ready to see all the bands again as soon as possible! Long live the North and long live the local scene!
