En 2022 sortait le très bon COrollarian RObotic SYStem, nouvel album futuriste des lorrains de Dusk Of Delusion. Leur univers peuplé de robots nommés Corollaires n’a pas fini de livrer tout ses secrets, puisque le groupe nous propose de nous replonger dans ce fable de science fiction avec un nouvel EP. Intitulé Try Your Freedom, il sera disponible le 10 novembre via Fantai’Zic et Absilone/SED. Prêts pour un nouveau voyage en 2080?

L’EP débute par le flash info du 4 juin 2080, nous présentant les enjeux du monde dans le quel nous nous trouvons, tout en nous rappelant ce que sont les corolaires et ce que leur présence implique dans la société. Arrive ensuite « Bone Metal » qui nous plonge définitivement dans un monde connu: celui du métal énergique de Dusk Of Delusion! La voix de Benoit Guillot est toujours aussi agréable à entendre et nous emporte dès les premiers instants. Les robots sont parmi nous et les politiques doivent décider quelle est leur place dans nos sociétés, c’est là tout l’enjeu du titre « The Hemicycle » et ses parties de guitares puissantes portées par Jean-Gabriel Bocciarelli et Matthieu Morand, qui s’occupe aussi des sons de synthés. Ces derniers collent parfaitement à l’univers dystopique présenté ici et apportent un vrai plus au métal mélodique de la formation lorraine. « Blocks » confirme l’excellente santé du groupe avec un titre un peu plus lent, qui laisse une place de choix au chant clair de Benoit, tout en oubliant pas les parties de scream très réussies.
Nous voilà ensuite en 2100 avec l’évocation des manifestations pro et anti robots qui ont pu avoir lieu dans ce futur pas si différent de notre présent, puisque les manifestations se terminent souvent dans des affrontements avec la milice Blocks. Cette violence est bien retranscrite par le rythme rapide et le duo basse / batterie formé par Julien Skorka et Natan Gengenbacher. Le dernier morceau nous montre que les failles existent également chez les robots et que certains peuvent se retrouver à la rue et perdre en vitalité petit à petit. Là aussi l’histoire rejoint les soucis de notre société de manière frontale. Ici les claviers sont rois et le chant se fait plus doux pour exprimer la détresse que ces êtres de plastique peuvent ressentir. Une vraie réussite qui clôture parfaitement cette nouvelle plongée dans ce monde dystopique très réaliste.
Dusk Of Delusion confirment leur excellente santé avec ce nouvel EP. Try Your Freedom apporte un beau supplément à l’histoire racontée dans l’album précédent, en faisant vivre ce monde encore un peu dans nos oreilles. Musicalement c’est encore une fois un métal très moderne parsemé d’influences très diverses, qu’on écoute avec grand plaisir. Le groupe a su au fil des années se créer un son à lui qu’on adore retrouver et voir évoluer de sortie en sortie. Une nouvelle très belle sortie des lorrains qui nous donne encore plus hâte de les voir en concert au plus vite dans le Nord et un peu partout en France et en Europe!

2022 saw the release of the excellent COrollarian RObotic SYStem, the futuristic new album from Lorraine’s Dusk Of Delusion. Their universe, populated by robots called Corollaires, has not yet yielded up all its secrets, as the band invites us to immerse ourselves in this science fiction fable with a new EP. Entitled Try Your Freedom, it will be available on 10 November via Fantai’Zic and Absilone/SED. Are you ready for another trip to the year 2080?
The EP opens with the newsflash of the 4th of June 2080, introducing us to the challenges of the world we find ourselves in, while reminding us what corollaries are and what their presence implies in society. Then comes ‘Bone Metal’, which plunges us into a familiar world: that of the energetic metal of Dusk Of Delusion! Benoit Guillot‘s voice is as pleasing to the ear as ever, taking us away from the very first moments. Robots are among us and politicians have to decide what their place should be in our societies, and that’s what ‘The Hemicycle’ is all about, with its powerful guitar parts carried by Jean-Gabriel Bocciarelli and Matthieu Morand, who also handles the synth sounds. The synthesizers fit in perfectly with the dystopian world presented here and add a real edge to the melodic metal of the Lorraine-based band. « Blocks’ confirms the band’s excellent health with a slightly slower track that gives pride of place to Benoit‘s clean vocals, while not forgetting the very successful scream parts.
We’re then taken to the year 2100, where we hear about the pro- and anti-robot demonstrations that have taken place in a future not so different from the present day, with demonstrations often ending in clashes with the Blocks militia. The violence is well conveyed by the fast rhythm and the bass/drums duo of Julien Skorka and Natan Gengenbacher. The final track shows us that robots can also be flawed, and that some can find themselves on the streets, gradually losing their vitality. Here, too, the story meets the concerns of our society head-on. Keyboards are king here, and the vocals are softer to express the distress these plastic beings can feel. It’s a real success, bringing this latest plunge into this highly realistic dystopian world to a perfect close.
Dusk Of Delusion confirm their excellent health with this new EP. Try Your Freedom is a fine addition to the story told on the previous album, bringing that world alive a little more in our ears. Musically, it’s once again very modern metal sprinkled with a wide range of influences, which is a pleasure to listen to. Over the years, the band have managed to create a sound all their own, which we love to see evolve from release to release. Another fine release from the Lorraine-based band, and we’re even more eager to see them live as soon as possible, in the North and all over France an in Europe!
