Après presque de 800 concerts à son actif, Mike Noegraf sort ce 7 juin son quatrième album intitulé Polarities, via SBÄM Records. L’artiste français nous délivre treize nouveaux titres indie folk pour le plus grand plaisir de nos oreilles. Écrits et composés en seulement une semaine, ces nouveaux morceaux font part d’une belle authenticité. Pour cet opus, il s’est entouré de Ed Wood à la basse et Tommy Rizzitelli à la batterie.

Dès l’intro, Mike Noegraf nous plonge dans un doux univers tout en émotions. “Open Your Heart Kid” tout comme “Embark” donnent des frissons tant la voix de l’artiste transpire de sentiments à la fois mélancoliques et authentiques. On se sent complètement happé par les titres, laissant voguer nos pensées à l’écoute des mélodies douces de la guitare. “Captain, we need a Captain”, single déjà sorti, est un peu plus pêchu et rythmé que les premiers morceaux de l’album. On retourne rapidement dans l’émotion avec “Under An Oak”, titre personnel et dont la symbolique de cet arbre majestueux rend absolument magnifique. Mike Noegraf a une voix qui vient nous toucher en plein cœur, et réussit à l’associer à de très jolies mélodies et rythmes doux pour nous bouleverser complètement. Le refrain de “I Saw You In The Dark” est un peu plus solaire, laissant transparaître une belle lueur d’espoir dans la voix de l’artiste. La rythmique, le son de guitare et la voix de Mike Noegraf prennent une couleur différente sur “Gossip” pour nous livrer un titre original et nous faire découvrir une palette plus large de l’univers de cet artiste. “Morning Craft” a des petits airs de Forest Pooky, avec qui Mike Noegraf a plusieurs fois joué. L’album se referme sur “Whatever Comes To Me”, titre acoustique qui nous fait clôturer cet opus comme nous avons commencé : avec des frissons.
Polarities est un album appelant à l’introspection et bouleversant. On ne peut qu’être touché par les compositions de Mike Noegraf. Et au ressentis des frissons lors de l’écoute, Sounding Shivers ne pouvait pas passer à côté! Émotion et authenticité sont les deux maîtres mots de cet opus à écouter d’urgence.

With almost 800 concerts under his belt, Mike Noegraf is releasing his fourth album, Polarities, on June 7th via SBÄM Records. The French artist delivers thirteen new indie folk tracks for our listening pleasure. Written and composed in just one week, these new tracks are beautifully authentic. For this opus, he was surrounded by Ed Wood on bass and Tommy Rizzitelli on drums.

Right from the intro, Mike Noegraf plunges us into a gentle, emotional world. Both ‘Open Your Heart Kid’ and ‘Embark’ send shivers down our spines, the artist’s voice exuding feelings that are both melancholy and authentic. You feel completely caught up in the tracks, letting your thoughts drift as you listen to the gentle guitar melodies. ‘Captain, we need a Captain’, a single already released, is a little more punchy and rhythmic than the first tracks on the album. We quickly return to the emotional side of things with ‘Under An Oak’, a personal track whose symbolism of this majestic tree makes it absolutely magnificent. Mike Noegraf‘s voice touches our hearts, and he manages to combine it with some lovely melodies and gentle rhythms to completely overwhelm us. The chorus of ‘I Saw You In The Dark’ is a little sunnier, revealing a glimmer of hope in the artist’s voice. The rhythm, the guitar sound and Mike Noegraf‘s voice take on a different colour on ‘Gossip’, giving us an original track and a broader palette of the artist’s universe. ‘Morning Craft’ has a hint of Forest Pooky, with whom Mike has played on several occasions. The album closes with ‘Whatever Comes To Me’, an acoustic track that brings this opus to a close just as it began: with shivers.
Polarities is an introspective and moving album. You can’t help but be moved by Mike Noegraf‘s creations. With all the shivers we had while listening to it, Sounding Shivers couldn’t fail to tell you all about this album! Emotion and authenticity are the two watchwords of this opus, which is an urgent must-listen.
