Dès l’ouverture, « Lungs » vous attrape à la gorge sans prévenir. Une entrée en matière brutale, presque suffocante, qui avance comme un rouleau compresseur. Le refrain adopte un rythme très hardcore, avant que le morceau ne ralentisse progressivement pour glisser vers la suite. Avec « King », le groupe s’appuie sur un riff entêtant qui tourne en boucle, avant de s’ouvrir sur une section plus mélodique en milieu de morceau, laissant davantage de place au chant. Sur « End », porté par la participation de Mare, c’est chant féminin qui impressionne. Puissant et habité, il apporte une dimension supplémentaire au morceau et fonctionne à merveille.
« Dark » resserre la tension : le titre est compact, urgent, porté par une batterie et des guitares qui martèlent sans relâche. La fin explose dans les cris, en résonance avec des thématiques particulièrement sombres, entre autodestruction, souffrance cachée et lutte pour survivre. « Monsters », avec Alex Rope, poursuit dans cette direction abrasive, tandis que « Rachel » se démarque par un son de guitare plus cristallin et un riff presque aérien en introduction. Le contraste est saisissant avec la noirceur du propos : le morceau rend hommage à Rachel Corrie, activiste pacifiste palestinienne tuée par un bulldozer israélien. Un titre marquant, à la fois poignant et intense. Sur « Isolation », If I Die Today s’entoure de Papero, chanteur du groupe italien Tons, apportant une touche sludge doom bienvenue. « Light » agit comme une respiration relative dans l’album, avant que « Cowards » ne vienne tout balayer sur son passage avec un breakdown dévastateur. « 1984 » s’inspire directement de l’œuvre de George Orwell, prolongeant la dimension oppressive et engagée du disque. Enfin, « Tar », en featuring avec Santa Infall, clôt l’album sur une réflexion existentielle : que reste-t-il de nous, sinon la trace que nous laissons dans la mémoire des autres ?
Masterisé par Will Putney (Better Lovers, Fit For An Autopsy, END), I Felt Nothing impressionne par sa puissance et sa précision. Un album dense, surtout viscéral et remarquablement produit, une vraie claque. On vous encourage à vous plonger dans cet album !

We’re heading to northern Italy with If I Die Today, who are back with I Felt Nothing, a new album due for release via Tifone Crew, Vollmer, Flames Don’t Judge, Shove Records, Poison Hearts, Oltraggio Produzioni and Masseria Autogestita. An intense and uncompromising post-hardcore album, tailor-made to appeal to fans of Converge or The Dillinger Escape Plan.
Right from the start, “Lungs” grabs you by the throat without warning. It’s a brutal, almost suffocating opening that rolls forward like a steamroller. The chorus takes on a very hardcore rhythm, before the track gradually slows down and flows into the next section. On “King”, the band builds on a haunting riff that loops endlessly, before opening up into a more melodic section midway through the track, giving the vocals more space. On “End”, featuring Mare, it’s the female vocals that make a real impression. Powerful and soulful, they add an extra dimension to the track and work a treat.
‘Dark’ ratchets up the tension: the track is compact and urgent, driven by relentless drumming and hammering guitars. The finale explodes into screams, echoing particularly dark themes ranging from self-destruction and hidden suffering to the struggle for survival. ‘Monsters’, featuring Alex Rope, continues in this abrasive vein, whilst ‘Rachel’ stands out with a more crystalline guitar sound and an almost ethereal riff in the intro. The contrast with the darkness of the subject matter is striking: the track pays tribute to Rachel Corrie, a Palestinian peace activist killed by an Israeli bulldozer. A striking track, both poignant and intense. On “Isolation”, If I Die Today are joined by Papero, frontman of the Italian band Tons, who brings a welcome touch of sludge doom. “Light” acts as a relative breather on the album, before “Cowards” sweeps everything aside with a devastating breakdown. “1984” draws direct inspiration from George Orwell’s work, extending the album’s oppressive and politically engaged tone. Finally, “Tar”, featuring Santa Infall, brings the album to a close with an existential reflection: what remains of us, if not the trace we leave in the memories of others?
Mastered by Will Putney (Better Lovers, Fit For An Autopsy, END), I Felt Nothing impresses with its power and precision. A dense, deeply visceral and remarkably well-produced album – a real knockout. We encourage you to immerse yourselves in this album!
