Une page décisive se tourne en ce 18 septembre 2026 pour le groupe Kissin’ Dynamite. Avec la sortie de leur neuvième album éponyme, les rockeurs allemands s’émancipent totalement en sortant leur disque dans leur propre structure du nom de Kissin’ Dynamite Records. De plus, ce nouvel opus sera également le dernier à mettre en vedette Hannes Braun au chant. Un dernier tour de piste faisant le lien entre le passé et l’avenir de la formation.

Depuis 2007, le groupe tel qu’on le connaît n’aura pratiquement jamais changé de line-up hormis pour la batterie ! Une longévité exceptionnelle qui s’apprête désormais à être bouleversée avec le départ du frontman Hannes Braun. En effet, celui-ci avait déjà annoncé son retrait de la scène un an plus tôt, invoquant à ce moment-là des raisons de santé. Toutefois, il restera influent au sein du combo en tant qu’auteur-compositeur, producteur et apportera toute sa force créative qui a fait le succès de Kissin’ Dynamite. Cet album, que de nombreux fans demandaient afin d’entendre une dernière fois la voix du chanteur, marque aussi l’étape de l’indépendance du groupe grâce à ce nouveau label indépendant. Que de changements donc avec cette sortie !
Puisqu’il s’agit de la dernière d’Hannes, le quintet a décidé de réenregistrer, sur les treize morceaux qui composent l’album, sept de leurs anciens titres issus de Steel of Swabia (2008) et Addicted to Metal (2010). Il convient de préciser qu’à l’époque, le vocaliste n’avait même pas… encore atteint la puberté ! Ces chansons profitent maintenant de la voix mature et rôdée d’Hannes ainsi que de la qualité du son d’aujourd’hui. Cependant, ce n’est pas tout : afin de marquer le coup, Kissin’ Dynamite a fait appel à de nombreux collègues et amis de longue date pour pimenter ces titres. On retrouve donc Amaranthe sur “Out In The Rain”, Ralf Scheepers (chanteur de Primal Fear) et Sam Totman (guitariste de Dragonforce) sur “Steel Of Swabia” (quel solo de Sam !), Anna Brunner (chanteuse de League of Distortion et Exit Eden), aka sa compagne dans la vraie vie, sur le romantique “Lie For Me” et enfin Eklipse sur “Against The World”. Qu’on se le dise, cette revisite de ces anciens morceaux est un sacré dépoussiérage et l’ajout de ces invités est un énorme plus !
Toutefois, il n’y a pas que les anciens titres qui ont le droit d’avoir des feats car le celtique et solennel “I Salute You” fait appel à Saltatio Mortis et sa cornemuse pour nous offrir un adieu digne de ce nom de la part du frontman. Bien entendu, une promesse est faite avec l’entêtant “I’ll be”, celle d’être toujours là, d’être toujours présent. D’autres sons, tels que “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” et “Night Is Calling” s’avèrent également pleins d’énergie et parfaits pour la scène, ce dernier étant un véritable hymne que de nombreux fans (et fêtards) chanteront probablement à tue-tête ! Celui qui captive cependant toute l’attention est bien “Glory Days”, le single et premier titre de l’œuvre, faisant directement écho à l’histoire du quintet. Avec un refrain aussi accrocheur et satisfaisant porté par une section rythmique de grande qualité, nul doute qu’il fera partie des chansons phares du groupe. L’album se referme avec le point d’orgue émotionnel du disque à travers la ballade “The Good In Goodbye”. Avec cette chanson, Hannes Braun aborde ce départ non pas comme une tragédie mais plutôt comme une étape vitale et met en avant, cela fait sens, le “bon” dans ces adieux. Une conclusion émouvante pour un chanteur à la voix unique.
Difficile de rester impassible et de ne pas avoir la gorge nouée face à ces adieux après avoir écouté la piste finale. Empreint de nostalgie, de positivité mais aussi de gratitude envers le public, Kissin’ Dynamite est un superbe album de transition entre ces deux époques. Il regroupe à la fois ce qui fait l’essence même du combo allemand et un regard sincère sur le passé et l’avenir. En somme, il s’agit là d’un adieu poignant de Hannes et bien qu’il quitte la scène, il continuera de faire battre le cœur du groupe pour encore longtemps, on l’espère !

A decisive chapter is coming to a close on September 18th 2026 for the band Kissin’ Dynamite. With the release of their ninth, self-titled album, the German rockers are breaking free completely by releasing the record through their own label, Kissin’ Dynamite Records. Furthermore, this new album will also be the last to feature Hannes Braun on vocals. A final lap linking the band’s past with its future.
Since 2007, the band as we know it has hardly ever changed its line-up, apart from the drummer! This exceptional longevity is now set to be disrupted by the departure of frontman Hannes Braun. In fact, he had already announced his retirement from the stage a year earlier, citing health reasons at the time. However, he will remain an influential figure within the band as a songwriter and producer, contributing all the creative energy that has made Kissin’ Dynamite such a success. This album, which many fans had been clamouring for so they could hear the singer’s voice one last time, also marks the band’s move towards independence thanks to this new independent label. What a host of changes, then, with this release!
As this is Hannes’s final album, the quintet decided to re-record, out of the thirteen tracks that make up the album, seven of their older songs from Steel of Swabia (2008) and Addicted to Metal (2010). It’s worth noting that, back then, the vocalist hadn’t even… reached puberty yet! These songs now benefit from Hannes’s mature, well-honed voice as well as today’s superior sound quality. However, that’s not all: to mark the occasion, Kissin’ Dynamite have called upon numerous colleagues and long-standing friends to spice up these tracks. So we find Amaranthe on “Out In The Rain”, Ralf Scheepers (singer with Primal Fear) and Sam Totman (guitarist with Dragonforce) on “Steel Of Swabia” (what a solo from Sam!), Anna Brunner (vocalist with League of Distortion and Exit Eden), aka his partner in real life, on the romantic “Lie For Me”; and finally Eklipse on “Against The World”. Let’s be clear: this reworking of these old tracks is a proper breath of fresh air, and the addition of these guest artists is a massive bonus!
However, it’s not just the older tracks that get to feature guest artists, as the Celtic and solemn “I Salute You” calls upon Saltatio Mortis and their bagpipes to offer us a fitting farewell from the frontman. Of course, a promise is made with the catchy “I’ll Be”, a promise to always be there, to always be present. Other tracks, such as “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” and “Night Is Calling”, are also full of energy and perfect for the stage, the latter being a veritable anthem that many fans (and party-goers) will no doubt sing at the top of their voices! The track that really captures everyone’s attention, however, is “Glory Days”, the single and opening track of the album, which directly echoes the quintet’s history. With such a catchy and satisfying chorus, backed by a top-class rhythm section, there’s no doubt it will become one of the band’s signature songs. The album draws to a close with its emotional climax: the ballad “The Good In Goodbye”. With this song, Hannes Braun approaches this farewell not as a tragedy but rather as a vital milestone and, quite fittingly, highlights the “good” in this goodbye. A moving conclusion for a singer with a unique voice.
It’s hard to remain unmoved and not feel a lump in your throat at this farewell after listening to the final track. Steeped in nostalgia, positivity and gratitude towards the fans, Kissin’ Dynamite is a superb album marking the transition between these two eras. It brings together both the very essence of the German band and a sincere reflection on the past and the future. All in all, this is a poignant farewell from Hannes, and although he is leaving the stage, he will continue to keep the band’s heart beating for a long time to come – we hope!
