#Live : Myrath + Roses Of Thieves @ The Black Lab, Wasquehal – 13/10/2026

Assez rapidement, Roses of Thieves monte sur scène.

On October 13th, The Black Lab took on a Tunisian flavour with Myrath’s grand return to the Lille metropolitan area. The band was joined on this tour by the Hungarian group Roses of Thieves. The evening was organised by Access Live, and the venue was packed.

Indeed, when we arrived 30 minutes before the doors opened, a queue had already begun to form outside the venue. When the doors opened, the crowd turned out in force! Before long, Roses of Thieves took to the stage. We were greeted by epic samples, and we quickly noticed the presence of an accordion. Due to Myrath’s backline at the back of the stage, the musicians seemed a bit cramped at the front, but that didn’t stop them from bringing their songs to life on stage. Ivett Dudàs delivered melodic vocals, at times verging on the lyrical, but also featuring a few growled passages. Musically, there was a folk, heavy and melodic feel to their sound… Some backing vocals are audible but not sung live on stage. Indeed, many elements turn out to be sampled. The result is, at times, a slightly polished sound. This doesn’t stop the audience from getting into the swing of things with the tracks designed to get people dancing. At the front, you can see that the audience are getting into the band’s fairly accessible and at times festive vibe. The same can’t be said for us, and the cover of “Boys (Summertime Love)” isn’t going to help us get into it. We particularly regret the heavy use of samples and computer-generated effects, with sections where no one is actually playing on stage, as is the case, for example, on “Taste of Freedom”. As the concert draws to a close, we’re left feeling a bit underwhelmed, although we must acknowledge that the band did manage to get part of the audience going, and this is what is expected from an opening act.

We carry on the evening with the much-anticipated band: Myrath. The band take to the stage right on time, facing a packed mosh pit. Kevin Codfert (keyboards) is dressed as a raven at the back, whilst the drummer, Morgan Berthet, is wearing a Sleep Token-style mask. Zaher Zorgati’s vocals are particularly striking, as lyrical as they are epic. Anis Jouini’s deep bass is also very much in evidence. The oriental sounds quickly captivate us. With “Born to Survive”, followed by “Dance”, we’re transported back to the Shehili era. The tracks are particularly catchy. We dance, we live in the moment… Malek Ben Arbia’s guitar solos are mesmerising. The intros are often enough to hit the mark, so iconic are they all. Each track has its own distinct personality, within a clearly defined musical universe. Ivett Dudàs joins the band to perform “Until the End”. This track opens the chapter on the Tunisian band’s latest album: Wilderness of Mirrors. This album features prominently in tonight’s setlist. We move straight on to “The Clown”, which explores mental health, with its imagery of the stories behind the mask. Certain vocal passages draw us into deeply emotional moments, delivered with control and delicacy. There are also more powerful, incisive passages. Blending metal, heavy and power elements, Myrath have a distinctive sound, with music that is both accessible and original. Zaher Zorgati can start in a fairly low register before soaring several octaves higher with remarkable vocal runs. Some tracks stretch out, allowing an atmosphere to develop at its own pace. Others are utterly epic, such as the introduction to “Breathing Near the Roar”, which transports us back to action films in the vein of RRR. The band strings together track after track in front of a completely captivated audience. “Soul of My Soul” offers a return to calm, with long passages without drums, in a highly melodic yet melancholic atmosphere. The iconic “Endure the Silence” is sung along to by the whole venue. The final line is performed solely on keyboard and vocals, taking on an almost operatic quality. As the stage is plunged into darkness, the audience calls the band back for an encore. Zaher Zorgati then returns from the back of the venue for “Les Enfants du Soleil”. The set finally concludes with “Believer”, with the whole audience joining in on the vocals.

Myrath once again created a great atmosphere at the Black Lab in front of a large crowd. The performance was as impressive as ever, both in terms of the show itself and the sound quality. The band showcased their latest album, Wilderness of Mirrors, on stage and demonstrated their full live potential.
