Deux ans après un premier album très remarqué, Mammoth WVH nous présente en ce début août un nouvel album studio. Intitulé Mammoth II, il sera disponible dès le 4 août chez BMG. En pleine tournée avec Metallica, Wolfgang Van Halen nous propose de découvrir une nouvelle série de morceaux rock. Quel impact aura ce second album sur la carrière déjà très prometteuse du musicien américain?

D’entrée de jeu on ressent l’envie de proposer un rock accessible tout en gardant une composition recherchée. Les riffs sont imparables et prouvent, s’il le fallait encore, les talents de guitariste de Wolfgang. La filiation avec son illustre père est évidement même si les morceaux sont totalement différents de ce qu’il pouvait proposer. Mammoth WVH est le projet de Wolfgang et son énergie transpire dans chaque titre de cet album. Le single « Another Celebration at the End of the World » est une pépite qui reste dans nos esprits dès les premières secondes. Vocalement on est aussi sur du très bon, avec une voix qui vit les morceaux et qui nous donne envie de le faire avec lui. Ne vous attendez pas avec cet album à des morceaux calibrés pour la radio, le musicien n’hésite pas à y ajouter toute sa maestria musicale en nous proposant des parties instrumentales d’une qualité indéniable. Une véritable énergie se dégage de ce nouvel album, avec « Take A Bow » ou encore « Erase Me » comme points d’orgue. Les émotions transmises par les textes et la musique passent parfaitement et nous laissent avec une envie folle de relancer cet album encore et encore. Les deux derniers morceaux clôturent parfaitement cette deuxième sortie studio du musicien américain, avec une dernière dose de ce mélange parfait entre heavy rock et émotions.
Avec ce nouvel album, Mammoth WVH continue son chemin en mêlant musique résolument moderne et personnelle avec l’héritage familial. Cet album est une véritable décharge énergétique dans nos oreilles et on imagine très bien le public se rassembler nombreux pour de futures dates en tête d’affiche après cette tournée marathon avec Metallica. Don’t expect this album to be just another radio-friendly track – the musician doesn’t hesitate to add his musical mastery with instrumental parts of undeniable quality. The emotions conveyed by the lyrics and the music are perfectly conveyed, leaving us with an insane desire to listen to this album again and again.
