Les chroniques express de Marye

Chest.

Titres immanquables : « Otto » & « Roger Roger»

konoha 木ノ葉 / dim / Underwater Basket Weaving / Vientre – 4 way split ( 16 octobre 2026 via No Funeral Records)

Get The Shot – Crucifixion Depiction (23 octobre 2026 via Arising Empire)

Insomnium – Netherworlds (16 octobre 2026 via Century Media Records)

Titres immanquables : «The Hour Grows Late » & « Pathways Of The Night »

Carnation – Symphony In Flesh (16 octobre 2026 en autorproduction)

Titres immanquables : « Labyrinth Of Silence » & « Legacy Of The Forefathers »

Titres immanquables : « Masking » & « Move On »

Les chroniques express de Zo’

Paerish – RITA (16 Octobre 2026 via SideOneDummy Records)

Titres immanquables : « Crashing In Circles » et « Swamp Monsters of Malibu »

THÉA – POPSTAR SPEEDRUN (2 Octobre 2026 via Glory Box Music)

Titres immanquables : « LÉTAL » & « LA VIE EST BELLE »

Porch Light – Hush  (18 Septembre 2026 via Mom+Pop)

Titres immanquables : « Mary’s Got a Gun » & « James »

Marye’s Express Reviews

Chest. – Happy, Broken (October 16th 2026 via Howlin’ Banana Records / A Tant Rêver du Roi)

Because in France, too, we know how to make some really great post-punk! The proof is in Happy, Broken, the debut album from the Parisian band Chest. Having seen them live on numerous occasions, we were already well aware of their live presence, where their energy never fails to hit the mark. This time, however, it’s in the studio that they manage to captivate us from start to finish. Driven by a constant sense of tension and infectious energy, the album lingers long after you’ve finished listening and immediately makes you want to turn your living room into an impromptu dance floor. Special mention goes to ‘Lotus Eater’, whose synth layers blend perfectly with this new wave of post-punk from across the Channel, in the vein of Idles or Gurriers. A vibrant, unifying and incredibly effective record that we wholeheartedly endorse. Better still: don’t miss Chest. if the chance arises!

Unmissable tracks : ‘Otto’ & ‘Roger Roger’

konoha 木ノ葉 / dim / Underwater Basket Weaving / Vientre – 4 way split ( October 16th 2026 via No Funeral Records)

This split album takes us on a veritable world tour of screamo, bringing together the Italians of Konoha 木ノ葉, the Georgians of Dim, the Canadians of Underwater Basket Weaving and the Americans of Vientre. Four bands, four distinct identities, but a shared passion for raw, visceral emotion. With Konoha 木ノ葉, light shines through ethereal compositions where deep, soulful screams further heighten the intensity of the message. Dim opt for a more heart-wrenching approach, driven by visceral vocals and an unapologetic emo sensibility, enriched by particularly well-integrated cinematic samples. With Underwater Basket Weaving, post-hardcore influences take centre stage and the rhythm picks up pace, infusing the music with raw, infectious energy. Finally, Vientre bring a more shoegaze-inspired touch, enveloping their tracks in ethereal atmospheres that contrast perfectly with the emotional intensity of the genre. Four distinct yet complementary visions of screamo, which coexist with remarkable coherence on this EP. Special mention must also go to the absolutely sublime cover art by Asep Yasin Abdullahya (@yasinviolet), which perfectly rounds off an already particularly successful release.

Malvä – Panser les plaies (October 2nd 2026, self-released)

Four tracks. That’s all it takes for Malvä to tear your heart out. In a music scene where cis men still all too often dominate the space, in a world that crushes bodies and minds in the name of love, where unease creeps in until it gnaws away at every fibre of one’s being, this trio from Poitiers have chosen to speak out. They shine a light on what we’d rather keep silent, giving a voice to what many try to bury. Somewhere between spoken word and screamo, the trio draws us into a raw, raw, world, as fragile as it is devastating. Every word resonates, every scream pierces. It’s overwhelming, sublime, at times even suffocating, such is the emotional intensity. You come away from listening breathless, as if you’d fought this battle alongside them. Singing, writing, composing, but above all, screaming to survive and to heal the wounds.

Get The Shot – Crucifixion Depiction (October 23rd 2026 via Arising Empire)

With four tracks, Canadian band Get The Shot mark their grand return, whilst officially ushering in a new chapter in their history. Between the arrival of a new vocalist and the return of their original guitarist, the band rediscovers the very essence of their raging hardcore sound, at times flirting with the boundaries of death metal. With ‘Prying Eyes’, the overall tone of this Get The Shot 2.0 is set: a track tailor-made for the stage, designed to be sung along to in unison by a frenzied crowd. Throughout the EP, the band seem intent on pushing their own boundaries by stringing together the most massive tracks, driven by breakdowns that are as heavy as they are effective. The band also treats listeners to a standout collaboration with Don’t Try on the title track, further amplifying the intensity of the whole. The result is a raw EP brimming with anger, which takes a direct swipe at the mechanisms of domination and oppression.

Victor’s Express Reviews

Insomnium – Netherworlds (October 16th 2026 via Century Media Records)

With Netherworlds, Finnish band Insomnium prove once again that they are one of the most exciting melodic death metal bands around. This album is, once again, innovative in terms of its sound, whilst retaining that quality we love to hear from the band. On the track “The Hour Grows Late”, we’re joined by Tomi Joutsen of Amorphis, who lends his voice to an absolutely epic vocal duet. Insomnium know how to tell stories, and this album is no exception. It’s a constant thrill ride, and the tracks don’t shy away from venturing into other genres, such as folk and even, at times, more pop-influenced sounds. From start to finish, every musician gives their all, and Niilo Sevänen’s vocals showcase their full versatility as the album unfolds. It’s hard not to heap praise on the band’s tenth album, as it manages, whilst refreshing their sound, to deliver what they do best and present us with a new collection of tracks that will remain etched in our memories for a long time to come.

Unmissable tracks: ‘The Hour Grows Late’ & ‘Pathways Of The Night’

Carnation – Symphony In Flesh (October 16th 2026, self-released)

Not usually a huge fan of death metal, I find myself utterly captivated by this brand-new album from the Belgian band Carnation. From start to finish, the album’s Dantesque riffs and rhythms are complemented by melodies of incredible power. Whilst not quite reaching the realm of melodic death metal, the Belgian band delivers a death metal sound that leaves a lasting impression, further enhanced by Simon Duson’s possessed vocals, which are truly breathtaking from start to finish. Each track is a veritable journey into the darkest depths of the human soul. Symphony In Flesh surprises just as much as it delivers the very best that death metal has to offer. And what can one say about the final track, the true centrepiece of this album, which allows the talent of each band member to explode one last time? One thing is certain: with this fourth album, the Belgian band has made a huge impact and left its mark on the year 2026! Needless to say, my excitement to see them live at the Haeresis Metal Fest (Sains-En-Gohelle) on May 7th has skyrocketed! An unmissable album for any death metal fan!

Unmissable tracks : ‘Labyrinth Of Silence’ & ‘Legacy Of The Forefathers’

GAMI – Underneath (October 23rd 2026, self-released)

GAMI’s album Underneath was a complete introduction to the world of this Marseille-based band for me, and what a discovery it was! Here, the young band presents a debut album that blends trip-hop and industrial sounds in the most captivating way. Quite simply, with every track, the trio’s compositional prowess is plain to see, and each piece takes us on a genuine musical and emotional journey. Capucine Trotobas uses her voice and bass playing to recount her neurological differences with conviction, her vocals becoming ever more intense from track to track, whilst encouraging those who recognise themselves in her story to embrace their differences and turn them into strengths. Her two bandmates, Rémi Bernard (Avee Mana) and David Benzazon (1003). Naturally, trip-hop lies at the heart of the album, but so does rock, with some truly beautiful guitar parts that are a delight to the ears. The trio excel, and listening to the album is a pleasure you never tire of! Quite simply, you’ll want to put it on repeat as soon as it’s finished. A real gem you simply must discover, and one we hope to see live in Lille as soon as possible!

Unmissable tracks : ‘Masking’ & ‘Move On’

Les chroniques express de Zo’

Paerish – RITA (October 16th 2026 via SideOneDummy Records)

Three years after their last album, the French quartet Paerish are back with their fourth album. Their blend of alternative rock and shoegaze continues to evolve on this new release; the eleven tracks shift from raw, dark moments to more melancholic and atmospheric ones, always with a cinematic feel. In their songs, the band explore the passage of time, childhood memories and the desire to preserve one’s creativity as one grows older. Paerish have always managed to transport us into their world, and RITA is no exception; we can’t wait to see them live again.

Unmissable tracks: ‘Crashing In Circles’ and ‘Swamp Monsters of Malibu’

THÉA – POPSTAR SPEEDRUN (October 2nd 2026 via Glory Box Music)

French hyper-pop is all the rage right now, and THÉA is its queen. Following an EP released in 2025 and a tour, one date of which brought the house down at the Aéronef, she’s back with her debut album! The result is a real hit, blending pop, punk and emocore with the frenzied energy of a rave. This time round, the artist isn’t on her own but has invited two guests: Changeline and Rebeka Warrior, each bringing a slice of their own world to share and blend with THÉA’s, adding yet more diversity to an album that’s dense yet enjoyable. The themes explored (trauma, identity, mental health) aren’t always easy, yet the singer brings an energy that sweeps us away and gives us a glimmer of hope. We’ll be seeing THÉA again to party, and potentially start a revolution, once more in April 2027 at La Condition Publique!

Unmissable tracks: ‘LÉTAL’ & ‘LA VIE EST BELLE’

Porch Light – Hush (September 18th 2026 via Mom+Pop)

This indie rock band from Minneapolis are releasing their very first album this year, and it’s a real gem. The singles released when Hush was announced revealed a rawer side to the band, yet they’ve lost none of the atmospheric, melancholic feel we heard on their previous EP. Across the eleven tracks, we’re plunged into a dark and intense world, and by the time we reach the end, the album starts all over again whilst the melodies and riffs we’ve just heard are still ringing in our ears, we just can’t get enough of it.

Unmissable tracks: ‘Mary’s Got a Gun’ & ‘James’

BEN plg – L’histoire sans fin (October 2nd 2026 via Pour La Gloire)

BEN plg needs no introduction, least of all in Lille. His lyrics depict the simple things of everyday life before he sets them to various beats with his dense and precise flow. This third album presents a brighter sound than the previous one, whilst remaining true to his style without reinventing the rapper. However, guest artists Camille Yembé and MATHILDE bring a more melodic, sung dimension, whilst the duet with Orelsan highlights BEN plg’s storytelling prowess on a track that’s truly memorable. Each track holds its own without overshadowing the others, and after 45 minutes, the album comes to an end, leaving us eager to see BEN plg live very soon (in February at the Zénith in Lille) to discover what will accompany these tracks.

Must-listen tracks: ‘Printemps’ & ‘Mentir au Psy’
